‘Scream 7’ Brings Sidney Prescott Back to the Fore
Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group have launched a new wave of promotion for Scream 7, releasing a fresh behind-the-scenes featurette, a Big Game television spot, featurette and a new poster as the long-running franchise prepares for its February theatrical return. The latest materials place renewed focus on Sidney Prescott, with Neve Campbell reflecting on the character’s three-decade journey at the heart of the series.

Titled Sidney’s Journey, the newly released featurette offers an overview of Prescott’s evolution since the original 1996 film, framed through Campbell’s perspective and supported by commentary from Kevin Williamson. For the first time in the franchise’s history, Williamson steps into the director’s chair, having created the characters and co-written the screenplay with Guy Busick. The featurette positions Scream 7 as both a continuation and a reckoning, returning the series to its original anchor following the character’s absence from Scream VI.

The release of the Big Game spot marks the most high-profile promotional moment yet for the film, confirming its rollout across premium formats including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX and 4DX. The IMAX release represents a franchise first, underlining the studio’s confidence in the film’s commercial reach. Tickets are set to go on sale on Monday, February 9, ahead of the film’s theatrical opening on February 27.

Narratively, Scream 7 centres on Sidney’s attempt to protect her family after a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet Indiana town where she has rebuilt her life. The threat becomes deeply personal when her daughter, played by Isabel May, is targeted, forcing Sidney to confront the unresolved trauma of past attacks. Campbell is joined by returning cast members Courteney Cox, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding, alongside David Arquette and Matthew Lillard, whose reappearances add further connective tissue to the series’ history. New additions include Anna Camp, Mckenna Grace, Joel McHale, Mark Consuelos and Tim Simons.
The film’s path to the screen has been closely watched following a turbulent development period that saw earlier directors exit and a broader creative reset. Williamson’s return has been framed as a stabilising force, bringing the franchise back under the guidance of its original architect. Marco Beltrami also returns to score the film, continuing a musical legacy that dates back to the first four entries.

Industry tracking suggests Scream 7 is heading towards a domestic opening weekend of around $30 million, placing it among the stronger performers in the franchise despite falling short of Scream VI’s launch. With its marketing campaign now in full swing, the film is positioned as a significant moment for both the series and its most enduring character… No pressure Scream 7, but we have high expectations!
