‘Grizzly Night’ Hits UK Digital and DVD in February
Lightbulb Film Distribution is bringing survival thriller Grizzly Night to the UK and Ireland, with the film scheduled to launch on Digital and DVD from Monday 2 February. Based on the real-life ‘Night of the Grizzlies’ incident, the feature dramatises a single night in 1967 when two separate grizzly bear attacks took place nine miles apart in Montana’s Glacier National Park.

The release will be available across major UK platforms including Amazon, Apple TV, Sky Store, YouTube Movies, EE TV and Virgin Media Store, alongside a DVD edition. Lightbulb’s Sales and Acquisitions Director Peter Thompson said the company was “thrilled” to be releasing the film in the region, highlighting its appeal as a home-viewing title and pointing to its basis in actual events as a key part of its impact. When interviewed, Thompson added “Who doesn’t enjoy a creature-feature with grizzly bears?!”… and who can argue with that?

Grizzly Night marks the feature directorial debut of Burke Doeren, working from a screenplay by Katrina Mathewson and Tanner Bean, based on a story by Bo Bean, Mathewson and Bean. The film stars Brec Bassinger and Jack Griffo, alongside Charles Esten and Oded Fehr, with additional cast including Joel Johnstone, Josh Zuckerman, Matt Lintz and Ali Skovbye.

Set during the events of 12 August 1967, the story follows a young park ranger as the evening turns into an emergency involving multiple campsites and escalating panic inside the park. The historical incident has been widely noted for its long-term consequences, prompting changes in how bear management and visitor safety were handled in US national parks.
Grizzly Night already looks set to join the ranks of other successful bear movies like Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear, John Rebel’s Bear (2010) and the 1976 film, Grizzly.
The UK and Ireland rollout follows the film’s US release plans, where it is slated to arrive stateside on 30 January via Saban Films. For Lightbulb, the February date continues its recent run of genre acquisitions aimed at the home entertainment market, with pre-orders already live through UK retailers ahead of release day.
