Childhood Icons Turn Savage in ‘The Dark Domain: Mickey-vs-Winnie’
Untouchables Entertainment has released the first teaser trailer for The Dark Domain: Mickey-vs-Winnie, offering a glimpse at a project positioning itself as one of 2026’s most provocative horror experiments. The film reimagines two of the most recognisable characters in children’s media, Steamboat Willie’s Mickey Mouse and A.A. Milne’s original Winnie-the-Pooh, as monstrous forces locked in a brutal confrontation deep within the aptly named Hell Forest.

The teaser introduces Dark Winnie, played by Givanni Gotay, whose interpretation draws heavily from Milne’s public domain original rather than the later Disney incarnation. Appearing in ragged fur and looming in the shadows of the forest, the character sets the tone for a film that leans fully into the public domain horror movement now gaining traction. The genre, which has already produced variations on Pooh and other classic icons, takes its boldest leap yet by staging the first crossover within this space.
Joining the cast is Fayna Sanchez, known for Abraham’s Boys and House of Ashes. She appears as Clare, a character positioned as the emotional centre of the story, gathering her friends as they return to the abandoned reform school at the core of their shared trauma. Sanchez’s growing presence within indie genre cinema continues with a role that aims to blend vulnerability with resilience, set against a backdrop of supernatural danger.
Director Glenn Douglas Packard, previously known for Pitchfork and his work in choreography, describes the film as an intentionally extreme experience for both cast and crew. Real practical effects, physically demanding set-pieces and on-set body suspension techniques were used to heighten the film’s intensity. Packard and creative partner Harper Phillips shaped the two central creatures with clear horror influences in mind, leaning into comparisons with Jason Voorhees, the Predator, Pennywise and Freddy Krueger.

Set a century after two convicts mysteriously vanished in Hell Forest, the film follows a group of adult friends pulled back to the reform school they once attended. Haunted by personal regrets and unresolved guilt, they find themselves confronted with monstrous manifestations of childhood icons warped through psychological terror. Dark Mickey emerges as a manipulative, chaotic figure driven by violence, while Dark Winnie functions as a vicious hunter. Their escalating conflict traps the group between duelling nightmares, forcing them to reckon with the hidden fears that shaped them.
With its blend of nostalgia, creature design and psychological horror, The Dark Domain: Mickey-vs-Winnie positions itself as a deliberately confrontational twist on public domain storytelling. As more iconic characters enter the public domain over the coming years, the film arrives at a moment when studios and independents alike are experimenting with reinterpretations once thought unthinkable.
Untouchables Entertainment is expected to release the feature in 2026.
