‘Tales for a HalloweeNight Vol. 11’ Promises More Terror Than Ever Before

This October, horror fans are in for a devilishly delightful treat as John Carpenter’s Tales for a HalloweeNight Vol. 11 rises from the crypt. Storm King Comics’ signature anthology series makes its long-awaited return on 13 October, delivering a brand-new dose of graphic terror from some of the most inventive minds in horror comics today.

Now in its eleventh volume, the annual release has become a Halloween staple, and this year’s edition doesn’t hold back. Leading the charge is an original story penned by the master of horror himself, John Carpenter, whose opening tale, Cathedral, sets a gruesome tone with a mysterious new entity that doesn’t play by the usual rules. The story is just one of twelve twisted offerings nestled in the pages of this 202-page collection, each one promising a chilling journey through monsters, madness and the malevolent unknown.

From tales set in the late 19th century to nostalgic 80s nightmares and stories that tap into the anxiety of modern life, the anthology covers a wide spectrum of the eerie and unsettling. Readers can expect cursed creatures, haunted timelines and a generous helping of gallows humour. Artists including Jason Shawn Alexander, Damien Worm, and Cat Staggs bring these nightmarish vignettes to life with visual flair, while Tim Bradstreet’s cover art sets the macabre tone before readers even crack the spine.

Storm King Comics, founded by Sandy King and John Carpenter, has carved out a reputation for smart, edgy genre comics. This year, the publisher has already made waves with the release of The Amusement Park, a graphic adaptation that links Carpenter with the late George A. Romero for the first time. Alongside that came Death Mask Vol. 2: Ichor Azure and Sian Mandrake’s Blood of the Taken: Next of Kin.

Dedicated to actor and frequent Carpenter collaborator Peter Jason, Tales for a HalloweeNight Vol. 11 will be available at New York Comic Con with an exclusive variant cover by Cat Staggs. General release will follow at comic shops, book retailers and online platforms including Amazon, Global Comix and Storm King’s own storefront. For more information, visit stormkingcomics.com/

With more than a dozen writers including Kealan Patrick Burke, Elena Carillo, Frank Tieri and Mike Sizemore, the anthology is once again curated and edited by Sandy King. As always, the mission is clear: deliver scares, provoke thought and let readers indulge in a Halloween ritual where their fears are brought to life – all from the safety of their favourite reading chair.
