Britain’s Haunted Hotspots Exposed by ‘The Supernatural UK’

When YouTube becomes a portal to the uncanny from 21 July, The Supernatural UK will strip away artifice and invite viewers on an unscripted tour of Britain’s most haunted sites. Filmmakers John Shackleton and Andy Bourne deploy a fly-on-the-wall approach to paranormal investigation in this ten-episode series, which drops weekly at 7pm and pits seasoned investigators against poltergeists, malevolent dolls and shape-shifting goblins.

The Supernatural UK

Across three themed strands – Attractions, Somerset and Warwick Castle – The Supernatural UK embeds Shackleton with teams of experts who bring their own tools and philosophies to each location. The first Attractions triptych visits Nottingham’s Museum of Curiosities, Monmouth’s Savoy Theatre and Bath’s House of Frankenstein. In the Museum of Curiosities episode, Diane Chambers and Justin Cowell track mysterious doll movements and cellar whispers. Craig Williams and Amy Cox brave Storm Éowyn at the Savoy Theatre, chasing the legend of a phantom performer. In Bath, Katie Crouch and guest investigator Kev Kerr confront alleged cursed experiments in a 300-year-old townhouse now retailing relics of Mary Shelley’s creation.

Shackleton serves as an observing presence, immersing viewers in every creaking floorboard and unexplained cold spot. “The Supernatural UK is unscripted and rooted in real-time investigation. With no agenda, no staged scares, and no exaggerated claims, the series offers a balance of critical enquiry and emotional truth,” he explains. That commitment to integrity extends to a roster of investigators that includes Dr Kate Cherrell, Rachel Hayward, Kim Morgan, John Wright, Karin Beasant, Lorien Jones, Kate Ray, Lisa Holman and Amy Cox, each bringing unique methods to capture the unearthly on camera.

The series promises moments that range from the eerie to the surreal, all presented without filters. The second Somerset strand will delve into rural haunts and folk horror folklore, while Warwick Castle sets the stage for medieval curses and castle keepers’ confidences.

Both Shackleton and Bourne produce, with Karaine Beasant also credited as producer. The Supernatural UK is directed and edited by Shackleton, whose previous credits include Panic Button and The Sleeping Room, and co-created by Bourne. Episodes require no scripting, staging or jump scares—only the raw footage of crews chasing shadows into the night.

The Supernatural UK

Across ten weeks, The Supernatural UK will pose questions that have endured since the dawn of ghost stories: do spirits linger, can we speak with them, and what happens if we try? The only way to find out is to keep the lights on.

The Supernatural UK launches on YouTube, Monday July 21, 7pm. Make sure you like and subscribe to the channel now, so you don’t miss a beat: youtube.com/@thesupernaturaluk
