Body Swaps and Bloodshed Arrive on Arrow This June

Arrow has revealed its June slate, and it’s a characteristically eclectic mix of the brutal, the bizarre and the barely-seen. From grisly Korean thrillers and resurrected Japanese ghost tales to European horrors and cult cinema favourites, the curated streaming platform continues to expand its niche appeal with a line-up tailored to lovers of the extreme and unconventional.

Body Parts

Kicking off the month is Devils, a slick South Korean thriller featuring a body swap between a detective and the serial killer he has spent years chasing. It arrives alongside Body Parts, a five-part anthology soaked in ritualistic horror and dread, both streaming from 6 June. Together, they lead Arrow’s newly launched Killer K-Horror season, a collection that also includes the underseen zombie satire Zombie for Sale.

From 9 June, viewers can return to Takashi Miike’s gonzo Western Sukiyaki Western Django, the 2007 cult mash-up that blends Leone-styled shootouts with operatic samurai drama. The month’s highlights continue with Calvaire, the 2004 Belgian backwoods horror which follows a cabaret singer stranded in the French countryside, only to encounter a warped community with sinister intentions. Directed by Fabrice du Welz, the film makes its Arrow debut on 13 June.

Invisible swordsman Arrow

Arrow’s commitment to rediscovery is further reinforced with the addition of The Invisible Swordsman on 23 June. Originally released in 1970, the film sees a hapless swordsman gifted a mystical potion to exact revenge on his father’s killers. Directed by Yoshiyuki Kuroda, it combines fantasy, historical drama and creature-feature spectacle in a way rarely seen outside the period J-horror canon.

Further additions include The Chaser, the searing 2008 debut from The Wailing director Na Hong-jin, and The Foul King, Kim Jee-woon’s early comedy about a banker-turned-wrestler, starring Parasite lead Song Kang-ho. Both stream from 6 June.

Arrow June Corin hardy Selects

June also sees filmmaker Corin Hardy step behind the curation desk with Corin Hardy Selects. The director of The Nun and The Hallow picks his personal favourites from Arrow’s catalogue, with his chosen titles ranging from Basket Case to Creepshow 2, and highlights from Park Chan-wook and George Romero. In his words, it’s a selection of “nightmarish horror dream-worlds, monsters, demons and shunting”.

Arrow continues to build its reputation as one of the most distinctive VOD platforms in the genre and cult space. With new additions ranging from South Korean crime sagas to forgotten sword-fighting ghost stories, the June offering reflects a platform unafraid to mine the global back catalogue for the rare, the extreme and the essential.

Arrow’s June line-up will be available to stream in the UK from 6 June, with subscriptions priced at £4.99 per month or £49.99 annually. For more information, visit: www.arrow-player.com/
