Explosions, Aliens and Dyer’s Fists Lead Legend’s May Madness
Legend has unveiled its packed May 2025 premiere schedule, delivering an ambitious run of science fiction, fantasy, and action classics that stretch across time, space, and genres.

At the top of the pile is James Cameron’s rarely broadcast deep-sea thriller The Abyss, which makes a rare UK television appearance on Sunday 25 May at 9pm. This underwater epic about alien intelligence, nuclear paranoia, and human resilience remains one of Cameron’s most visually arresting and emotionally charged films.
But for those who prefer their sci-fi terrain a little more subterranean than subaquatic, Legend has curated a trio of matinee premieres that mine classic adventure with gusto. Kicking off with Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) on 5 May, followed by Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961) and disaster milestone The Poseidon Adventure (1972), the channel dives deep into cult cinematic archaeology.

The month also marks the arrival of Highlander III: The Sorcerer, featuring Christopher Lambert reprising his role as the immortal Connor MacLeod. The third instalment brings back the franchise’s head-splitting lore with new adversaries and swordplay, premiering on 10 May at 9pm. Action continues to thunder across the schedule with premieres of Kiss of the Dragon (Jet Li vs Parisian corruption) and Flight of the Intruder (a Vietnam-set tale of rogue pilots disobeying orders to fight on their terms), each showcasing early 2000s grit and ’90s firepower.
Viewers with a taste for psychological sci-fi will want to mark Thursday 8 May for Imposter, the Gary Sinise-led adaptation of a Philip K. Dick story that explores identity and trust in a future ruled by suspicion. Also joining the line-up is Gold, starring Matthew McConaughey as a desperate dreamer in the Indonesian jungle searching for wealth that may or may not exist.

Closer to home, fans of British crime cinema will find two hard-edged premieres in The Business and Outlaw, both starring Danny Dyer. The latter, featuring Sean Bean and the late Bob Hoskins, focuses on vigilante justice in a world gone morally bankrupt.
Rounding off the month is Behind Enemy Lines, which sees Owen Wilson out of his comedic comfort zone as a downed Navy pilot trying to survive in hostile territory while Gene Hackman wrestles with red tape and warfare logistics.
Whether it’s a journey to the planet’s core, a scramble through a capsized cruise ship or a claustrophobic descent into alien abyssal plains, Legend’s May slate promises something for every kind of thrill-seeker.
