ARROW Brings Blood, Brawls and ‘Booger’ to April Line-Up

ARROW is gearing up for one of its most ambitious months to date, unveiling a stacked April line-up that spans everything from indie horror debuts to rediscovered thrillers, cult oddities and a treasure trove of Japanese V-Cinema gems. With a release calendar that reads like a wishlist for the genre-obsessed, the streaming platform is making good on its promise to deliver bold, boundary-pushing content that goes far beyond the mainstream.

Booger Arrow

Leading the charge is Booger, the buzzed-about debut from Mary Dauterman. A surreal black comedy anchored in grief and transformation, the film follows a woman whose mourning process takes an animalistic turn after she’s bitten by her dead best friend’s cat. With a sharp emotional core and grotesque humour, it’s an unconventional portrait of loss that typifies ARROW’s flair for unearthing unexpected gems.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Stéphane offers a potent cocktail of found footage tension and dark comedy. Directed by Timothée Hochet and Lucas Pastor, this chaotic descent into amateur filmmaking gone wrong plays like Man Bites Dog remixed for the influencer generation. Elsewhere, Mute Witness gets the treatment it deserves with a new 4K restoration. The underrated 90s thriller, which saw director Anthony Waller fusing Hitchcockian suspense with gory terror on the streets of Moscow, now arrives looking sharper and more disturbing than ever.

Also in focus this month is a curated season of Japanese direct-to-video crime films from the Toei vaults. These include gonzo titles like Neo Chinpira: Zoom Goes the Bullet, Female Prisoner Scorpion: Death Threat, and The Hitman: Blood Smells Like Roses, all delivering hard-boiled action, yakuza betrayals and a deep dive into Japan’s criminal underworld with all the sleaze and swagger one would expect.

April also sees the return of genre scholar Alexandra Heller-Nicholas with a handpicked selection from the ARROW archives. Known for her deep dives into cult and horror cinema, her personal picks include Mirror Mirror, The Red Queen Kills Seven Times and Female Prisoner #701 Scorpion—a line-up that balances violent subversion with feminist insight.

And if you’re craving a good scare served through the lens of lo-fi dread, ARROW’s new Found Footage season should do the trick. Films like Kolobos, Ghost Light and The Outwaters tap into the voyeuristic terror of the sub-genre, where the camera becomes both witness and accomplice to horror. The selection captures the form’s DIY spirit while showcasing just how terrifying grainy, handheld footage can still be.

For those who favour cult behind-the-scenes stories, Lost in La Mancha and He Dreams of Giants provide a double dose of Terry Gilliam’s doomed creative journeys, offering intimate access to the director’s long-standing battle to bring The Man Who Killed Don Quixote to the screen. It’s a tale of artistic obsession, misfortune, and sheer cinematic willpower that sits comfortably within ARROW’s vault of offbeat tales.

Lost in la Mancha

Other standouts include Capsules, a chemically-charged indie horror about addiction and survival; Hide and Go Shriek, a slasher rarity set in a furniture store; and the sci-fi horror sequel Xtro 3, which sees marines stalked by an alien presence on a remote island. And for those craving trashy thrills with a surreal edge, Purgatory and The Visitants promise plenty of offbeat rewards.

Whether you’re after something artful, anarchic or just completely unhinged, ARROW’s April slate underscores its status as one of the most exciting platforms for genre and cult cinema anywhere. With daily additions, curated collections, and a steadily growing library of exclusive extras, the service continues to push the boundaries of horror, crime and underground film curation.
