Sharks, Pirates, and a Battle for Survival in ‘Into the Deep’
Nearly five decades after he first battled a great white in Jaws, Richard Dreyfuss is diving back into treacherous waters with Into the Deep, a tense underwater thriller set to release on digital platforms on 27 January and on DVD on 3 February. Directed by Christian Sesma (Lights Out) and boasting a star-studded cast, this film promises to deliver a harrowing tale of survival against both human and aquatic predators.

The story begins off the coast of Madagascar, where a young Cassidy shares a carefree swim with her father. Their peaceful moment is shattered by a brutal shark attack, leaving Cassidy traumatised. Years later, under the guidance of her grandfather Seamus, an oceanography professor played by Dreyfuss, Cassidy works to conquer her debilitating fear of the sea. However, her past resurfaces in a horrifying way when she embarks on a diving expedition to Reunion Island with her husband, Gregg.
On the trip, Cassidy and her group encounter a group of modern-day pirates, igniting a deadly clash in the deep. Compounding their plight is the presence of a massive, vengeful great white shark determined to keep them from escaping the ocean alive. Cassidy must draw on every ounce of courage and resilience to overcome her fears and survive the perilous waters.

The film boasts a dynamic cast, including Scout Taylor-Compton (Halloween), Jon Seda (La Brea), Stuart Townsend (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), and AnnaMaria Demara (Lost in Space). With a script from Chad Law (Hero Wanted) and Josh Ridgway (The Flood), Into the Deep combines psychological depth with adrenaline-fueled action, making for a gripping underwater adventure.
Dreyfuss’ return to the ocean in Into the Deep pays homage to his iconic Jaws role while offering fresh thrills for a new generation. Whether facing the perils of the deep or the human threats on the surface, the stakes are as high as ever.

Catch Into the Deep on digital platforms from 27 January or own it on DVD from 3 February, distributed by Signature Entertainment.
