‘Saint Clare’ Brings Blood and Terror to London’s FrightFest

Prepare to witness a chilling descent into darkness as Saint Clare, the highly anticipated thriller starring Bella Thorne, makes its UK premiere at this year’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest in London. The film, set to screen on 25 August, promises to be a standout at the festival, offering a unique blend of psychological horror and supernatural intrigue.

Saint Clare 2024

Directed by Mitzi Peirone, the award-winning filmmaker behind Braid, and co-written with American Psycho’s Guinevere Turner, Saint Clare tells the harrowing story of a young woman with a divine mission to rid her small town of evildoers. Thorne, known for her roles in Midnight Sun and Scream: The TV Series, delivers a powerful performance as Clare, a solitary figure haunted by mysterious voices that guide her to eliminate those who believe they can act with impunity.

But as Clare’s vigilante justice leads her deeper into a labyrinth of corruption and human trafficking, she finds herself confronting not only the darkness within her victims but a terrifying force that threatens to consume her. The film’s gripping plot, combined with its intense atmosphere and a haunting original soundtrack by Zola Jesus, ensures that Saint Clare is a must-see for horror enthusiasts.

The film’s stellar cast also includes Ryan Phillippe (Cruel Intentions), Rebecca DeMornay (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction), and Bart Johnson (High School Musical), each bringing their own depth to this spiritually charged thriller. As Clare’s quest for retribution spirals out of control, the audience is left to wonder: can she escape the hellish fate that seems to be closing in on her?
