Skin-Crawling Horror ‘Sting’ Out Now

2024 is set to be a summer of spidery screams thanks to the release of Sting, a new horror film that promises to spin a web of terror. Out now on digital download, and Video on Demand then hitting Blu-ray and DVD on 19th August 2024, this chilling creature feature, directed and written by Kiah Roache-Turner (Wyrmwood), stars Alyla Browne (Furiosa), Ryan Corr (House of the Dragon), and Jermaine Fowler (The Blackening).
Sting has already received high praise from critics, with Bloody Disgusting calling it “an entertaining throwback creature feature” and HeyUGuys praising it as “a thrilling horror film with strong visual effects and engaging performances.” Nightmare on Film Street adds that it is “jam-packed with killer moments of arachnid mayhem.”

The film’s story centres around Charlotte, played by Alyla Browne, a rebellious 12-year-old girl who discovers a peculiar spider that falls from the sky. Naming it Sting, Charlotte’s fascination with the creature grows alongside its rapidly increasing size. Sting’s insatiable appetite for blood soon turns deadly as neighbourhood pets start to disappear, followed by the neighbours themselves. The horror escalates as Charlotte’s family and the eclectic residents of their building realise they are trapped and hunted by this monstrous arachnid with a terrifying hunger for human flesh.
Sting also stars Penelope Mitchell (Hellboy) and Robyn Nevin (The Matrix Revolutions). Browne, who recently captivated audiences as Young Furiosa in Furiosa, delivers a compelling lead performance that anchors the film’s intense and horrifying narrative.
The film features astounding special effects from the Academy Award®-winning Weta Workshop, known for their work on The Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong. These visual effects bring the nightmarish creature to life in a way that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats (or hiding under them).

The film will be available to buy and rent on digital platforms from 15th July, with physical copies on Blu-ray and DVD available to own from 19th August. Don’t miss the chance to experience this thrilling horror film that taps into one of humanity’s deepest fears—arachnophobia—taken to monstrous new heights.
Sting is set to be a must-watch for fans of classic creature features such as Arachnophobia and 8-Legged Freaks. Prepare to be captivated and terrified by this summer’s ultimate creature feature.
