Feel the Chill This Halloween with Arrow Video’s October 2024 Releases

Arrow Video is set to deliver a thrilling array of horror films to the UK this Halloween season. Fans can anticipate the release of two versions of Exorcist II: The Heretic, Exorcist III in 4K, the darkly humorous anthology Trick ‘r Treat, and a seven-film J-Horror limited edition collection.
Exorcist II: The Heretic
Directed by John Boorman, Exorcist II: The Heretic is a visionary thriller that defies expectations with its unique approach. The film stars Linda Blair, Louise Fletcher, and Richard Burton, and features breathtaking cinematography and a standout score by Ennio Morricone. Following the exorcism that saved Regan MacNeil (Blair) and caused the deaths of two priests, Regan’s therapist, Dr. Tuskin (Fletcher), believes her memories are simply repressed and waiting. Father Philip Lamont (Burton), tasked by the Vatican to investigate Father Merrin, finds himself drawn into a spiritual battle that spans from Africa to New York and Georgetown. The two-disc Limited Edition Blu-ray includes two cuts of the film, new commentaries, a collector’s booklet, and a reversible sleeve, available from 7th October.

Exorcist III
Exorcist III is the true successor to the 1973 classic, blending theological themes with sheer horror. Written and directed by William Peter Blatty, the film stars George C. Scott, Jason Miller, and Brad Dourif. Set 15 years after the original, Lieutenant Kinderman (Scott) investigates a series of gruesome murders linked to the Gemini Killer, who was executed years earlier. His quest leads him to ‘Patient X’ in a mental hospital, culminating in a fiery showdown between good and evil. Presented in both its original theatrical cut and the Legion director’s cut, this 4K UHD edition is loaded with extras, including an in-depth documentary, a reversible sleeve, and an illustrated collector’s booklet. Available on 7th October, it offers a fresh take on a chilling story.

Trick ‘r Treat
Just in time for Halloween, Michael Dougherty’s Trick ‘r Treat weaves together four interlinked stories set on Halloween night. With a cast featuring Dylan Baker, Anna Paquin, and Brian Cox, this anthology pays homage to classic horror comics and 80s creature features. The stories include a high school principal who leads a double life as a serial killer, a young girl’s search for love taking a dark turn, teenagers’ prank gone wrong, and an old man’s encounter with a sinister trick-or-treater. The limited edition 4K release includes new interviews and commentaries, archival featurettes, and collectible items such as a reversible sleeve, double-sided poster, art cards, and an illustrated booklet. Available from 28th October, it promises to be a highlight of the spooky season.

J-Horror Rising
This seven-film, four-disc limited edition Blu-ray set explores the haunting realm of J-Horror. The collection includes Shikoku, Isola: Multiple Personality Girl, Inugami, St. John’s Wort, Carved: The Slit-Mouthed Woman, Noroi: The Curse, and Persona. Each film delves into themes of supernatural abilities, urban legends, and the terror of technology. From the ghostly pastoral horror of Shikoku to the chilling pseudo-documentary format of Noroi: The Curse, this set offers a comprehensive look at the eerie and atmospheric world of Japanese horror. Remastered and packed with extras, including new commentaries, interviews, and deleted scenes, this collection is a must for fans of international horror. Available from 28th October, it includes English subtitles for each film, an illustrated booklet, and a double-sided poster.
