Vertigo Releasing is proud to announce the acquisition of theatrical and certain downstream media of Orion Pictures’ CHILD’S PLAY for UK and Ireland.

The movie will feature Mark Hamill [Star Wars] as the voice of Chucky, along with Aubrey Plaza [Parks and Recreation, Ingrid Goes West], Brian Tyree Henry [Atlanta, forthcoming Joker, Godzilla vs Kong] and Gabriel Bateman [Lights Out, Playmobil The Movie].

Child’s Play has been produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith under their KatzSmith banner, whose film adaptation of Stephen King’s It has earned over $700million worldwide. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson executive produced the project. The film is directed by new talent Lars Klevberg [director of the forthcoming horror chiller Polaroid], and written by Tyler Burton Smith, based on the original script.

Aubrey Plaza stars as a single mother who buys her son Andy [Gabriel Bateman] a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature. Chucky, the doll, is voiced by Mark Hamill, who says of his new role, “I can’t wait to bring such an iconic character to life, and present him in a way you’ve never seen before.”

Also appearing are Brian Tyree Henry as the cop on the trail of the miniature murderer and Tim Matheson [Animal House], as the founder of the Kaslan Corporation, which produces the Buddi dolls.

Rupert Preston, CEO of Vertigo Releasing, says “We are thrilled to be releasing this iconic franchise movie and can’t wait to unleash it on UK audiences.”

CHILD’S PLAY will be released in the UK and Ireland on 21st June 2019
