Night of Something Strange (2016) Review
What we said:
“It’s a film that does what it says on the tin, it’s a whole bunch of fun and puts a refreshing spin on both the slasher and zombie sub-genres. Straiton “gets” his audience and knows exactly how to satisfy horror fans. Night of Something Strange holds no barres from beginning to end and remains consistently entertaining throughout. Without a doubt it’s the cleverest, funniest horror film of 2016 so far!” Read the rest of the review right HERE

Viral (2016) Review
What we said:
“Although it draws from a number of cinematic sources much like the dreaded and disgusting Worm Flu in the film Viral mutates these basic concepts into an entirely original organism crafting an outstanding outbreak horror that really gets under your skin.” Read the rest of the review right HERE

Creepy (2016) Review
What we said:
“Creepy has excellent direction from Kurosawa, it’s atmospheric, beautifully shot, well acted and all in all a really solid edge of the seat thriller and powerful psychological drama. It’s guaranteed to leave the audience reeling.” Read the rest of the review right HERE

Under The Shadow (2016) Review
What we said:
“Some may be disappointed to find that the final act is devised to get under the skin, to leave the you with something to think about after the credits roll. Rather than just a climax involving a skulking creature from the shadows, you’re left to consider that the horror is parable to Sideh’s plight. Her struggle within a strained and conservative political regime and the constant peril of falling bombs, threatening to tear the family and home apart is a horror that is very prevalent today and is an altogether more tragic and terrifying thing than that of a ghost story.” Read the rest of the review right HERE

The Library Suicides [Y Llyfrgell] (2016) Review
What we said:
“Films like Y Llyfrgell are changing the face of Welsh language cinema, offering more accessible, modern material that’s both gritty and edge of the seat stuff. Wales has a dark heart within its history which will hopefully continue to be explored.” Read the rest of the review right HERE

Friend Request (2016) Review
What we said:
“With a great bunch of other actors thrown into the mix of Friend Request, cranking up the tension and terror effortlessly. They all contribute to give added desperation to proceedings – and all deliver impeccable performances. The eerie lighting, special effects and clever edgy camera work also makes the film stand out from the usual run of the mill efforts made these days.” Read the rest of the review right HERE

Blood Hunters (2016) Review

Cell (2016) Review
What we said:
“An extremely well made and awesome apocalypse movie with Cell Stephen King resurrects the zombie genre offering a fresh, frantic and frightening twist on an overdone monster and making us fearful of our phones just in case horror is calling you” Read the rest of the review right HERE

Let Her Out (2016) Review
What we said:
“Let Her Out takes the subjects of mental illness and pregnancy anxiety and darkly twists them into a horror context, which is exactly what a horror film should do, exploring real life fears in a fantastical setting.” Read the rest of the review right HERE

Southbound (2016) Review
What we said:
“I was impressed by the cinematography of each short as a sense of dread was achieved outside in the scorching sun and blazing sunlight and even when we entered the dark and dense world of bars and hospitals in the dead of night. Special FX were pretty cool considering the budget of Southbound and a lot of attention and care has been taken in ensuring those viewing each short are either shocked or disturbed by what they encounter on screen.” Read the rest of the review right HERE

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) Review
What we said:
“Shocking as it sounds Pride and Prejudice perfectly lends itself to this horror interpretation with its strong heroine brought up alongside free spirited sisters by a progressive father, constant military presence and dark brooding male lead tortured by his past and Seth Grahame-Smith was cleaver enough to expand and evolve every element of Austen’s original to seamlessly fit into a alternate post-apocalyptic 19th century England populated by the roaming dead.” Read the rest of the review right HERE

31 (2016) Review
What we said:
“Puerile, pointless and gratuitously grotesque fans of The Devil’s Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses will herald 31 as a return to form I am sure however after the intelligent and inventive Lords of Salem it is a giant fall back into the cess pit of trite horror.” Read the rest of the review right HERE

Dark Vale (2016) Review
What we said:
“The first, most obvious problem with The Vale is the cast who all seem to lack experience and fail to deliver a convincing performance (bar the ghost). Darren Randall just isn’t strong enough to lead in this story and fails to emote the terror or passion that one would be feeling in this situation. For instance, as he reads his diary recounting his terrifying encounters with the apparition, you could be mistaken to think that he’s casually reading aloud his weekly shopping list.” Read the rest of the review right HERE
