Win a copy of the ‘Fear in the Night’ Collector’s Edition

To celebrate its worldwide 4K UHD debut, we’re giving one lucky reader the chance to win the stunning new Collector’s Edition of Fear in the Night, freshly restored and packed with extras.

Fear in the Night

Following on from STUDIOCANAL’s acclaimed 4K releases of The Horror of Frankenstein and Scars of Dracula, this lesser-known gem from the Hammer catalogue finally gets the deluxe treatment it deserves.

Directed by Hammer mainstay Jimmy Sangster, Fear in the Night stands apart from the studio’s more famous Gothic horrors. Rather than leaning on vampires or monsters, this 1972 chiller delivers something far more intimate and unsettling: a tightly wound psychological thriller often described as one of Hammer’s “mini-Hitchcocks”.

Fear in the Night

The story follows Peggy (Judy Geeson), a young woman recovering from a nervous breakdown who is suddenly attacked by a mysterious one-armed assailant. Hoping for a fresh start, she moves with her husband Robert (Ralph Bates) to a remote countryside boarding school where he has taken a teaching post.

What should be a quiet retreat quickly turns into a waking nightmare.

Fear in the Night

The school is eerily deserted, populated only by the enigmatic headmaster (Peter Cushing) and his wife (Joan Collins). As Peggy’s grip on reality begins to fray, the terrifying attacker returns, and with her husband called away to London, she is left alone to confront the horror.

What follows is a masterclass in paranoia, gaslighting and creeping dread, building towards a finale that remains one of Hammer’s most nerve-shredding.

While often overshadowed by Hammer’s iconic monster films, Fear in the Night has grown in reputation over the years as one of the studio’s most effective thrillers. Its stripped-back setting, unreliable perspective and psychological tension make it feel strikingly modern.

This new Collector’s Edition is the definitive way to experience the film, featuring:

  • A brand new 4K restoration
  • 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs
  • New artwork by Johnny Dombrowski
  • Two collectible posters
  • A 64-page booklet with new essays
  • A wealth of bonus features
