Win 1 of 2 Directors Company Edition Blu-ray copies of Door

Helmed by Banmei Takahashi, the backstory of Door is as captivating as its plot.

Film aficionados might recall the Director’s Company, a collective of Japanese filmmaking royalty from 1982-1992, including the likes of Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Sogo Ishii, Shinji Somai, and more.

Door

This collective was behind a host of remarkable Japanese films and paved the way for genre-defining cinema in Japan, like the iconic Evil Dead Trap. Before that, they produced Japan’s inaugural Giallo film—Door. Intriguingly, the sequel was directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa.

In the film follows Yasuko Honda (Keiko Takahashi). After several strangely threatening calls from a local salesman, the homemaker becomes increasingly afraid to answer her apartment door. Soon she finds herself trapped by a maniac.
