Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark Competition

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark was one of the many great films that we reported on at this year’s Film4 Frightfest.

Written by Guillermo Del Toro and starring Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce, the film was inspired by a little known made for TV drama that Del Toro saw as a child. The concept has been turned into what can best be described as a dark, spooky fairy tale.

When a young girl named Sally is sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend in a big creepy house, she soon discovers that they are not alone in the imposing building. Strange creatures lurk in the shadows that want to drag Sally into the darkness with them and take her away from her family forever.
