The Return of the Living Dead Special – Beverly Randolph Interview

The Return of the Living DeadThe last part of our Return of the Living Dead Special (the movie is released on special edition Blu-ray and DVD on the 4th of June) and its the turn of Beverly Randolph a.k.a Tina the good girl gone crazy when she gets caught up in the carnage which occurs when the dead return.

LoveHorror: Firstly can I say that I love The Return of the Living Dead. I think it thoroughly deserves this special edition release as it is a true cult horror classic.

Beverly Randolph: You may and thank you for doing so!

LoveHorror: The Return of the Living Dead is returning once again. How did you get involved in this zany zombie movie?

Beverly Randolph: The standard way in Hollywood, the call from the casting director to the agent after the approval of my resume and picture. Then on to the reading with the casting director. After that, on to the director and producers. that went well so, on to a screen test and BINGO, all mine!

LoveHorror: What was filming like? And do you have any stories from the set?

Beverly Randolph: We were always wet, cold and uncomfortable! We were very fortunate to have landed these rolls though so, I bite my tongue. There are SO many stories…We had a lot of fun. There were a lot of fights with the director. The crew were all very kind and good to us. The first day of shooting the driver driving us to set drove down a one way street and almost killed us all! The kids anyway.

The Return of the Living Dead

LoveHorror: The movie was made in 1985. Have you watched it since and what do you think of it?

Beverly Randolph: We, the cast, have watched it many times together now as we do a lot of appearances and some require/request us to watch the movie with the fans. I think it is a fun movie with a fantastic look and fabulous music.

LoveHorror: The special edition features the documentary More Brains! A Return to the Living Dead. Are you surprised at the cult status that the movie has? Why do you think it has been embraced by so many horror fans? The Return of the Living Dead

Beverly Randolph: Yes, I am very surprised. You never know how things are going to turn out when you do a film. This is all wonderful. I think the fans embrace it because there are a lot of characters to choose from that people identify with. There is a naked girl dancing about which is a real shocker. It’s just a campy, fun film.

LoveHorror: What have you been doing since the film and what are you up to now?

Beverly Randolph: I’ve been a stay at home mom for 19 years and Hollywood housewife. I’ve gotten my pilot’s license and I am the block captain on my street…lol! I now have two yorkies to play with. Oh and I executive produced the documentary “More Brains.”

LoveHorror: What is your favorite zombie movie other than The Return of the Living Dead?

I don’t watch scary movies! I am a romantic comedy kinda gal. Although, I did see Shaun of the Dead and liked it.

LoveHorror: Finally, if you where to return as one of the living dead what’s the first thing you would do?

Beverly Randolph: Oh dear heaven, I’d shoot myself. : )

LoveHorror: Thank you so much for your time and your answers.

Beverly Randolph: You are welcome! Thank you too.
