Directed and written by Marc Fouchard Out Of This World is a stylish and twisted tale of violence that takes you inside the troubled mind of a serial killer.
The very private Leo has issues communicating with others due to past trauma and only lives for his music. For now, not able to have a career as a composer, he works as an Uber driver and lives in his car. When Leo picks up Amélie, a deaf dancer, he sees a like-minded spirit, connected to the same remote sound universe yet cut off from the world, just like him. But Leo is hiding a dark and deadly secret…
Starring Kévin Mischel (Break, Divines), Aurélia Poirier (The Fifth Season, The Monuments Men), June Assal (Luther), Dominique Frot (Inside, La Ceremonie) Out Of This World was an official selection at Shanghai International Film Festival and FrightFest Glasgow, as well as winning the Grand Prix at Polar de Cognac festival.
Below Marc Fouchard talks horror with us:
“I’m generally not a fan of horror films… I am a fan of all cinema. For me Out Of This World is not just a horror it’s also a musical tragedy. In my first career, I was a graphic designer and The Shining was a revelation for me. It made me want to become a film director and inspired my career. When I decided I wanted to make a film, I watched all my favourite films The Shining, Once Upon a Time in America, City of God, The Beat My Heart Skipped and La Haine, Clockwork Orange and The Deer Hunter. Each film motivates me but The Shining is number one. I can see it every month. When I prepare a movie, I will go to a museum to see photography and for me, The Shining is like going to a museum – it has everything: photography, conceptual art and it inspires me in everything I do.”
