Five FrightFest Facts From Ian Tripp co-director of Everybody Dies By The End

The fantastic FrightFest returns to London for another year, bringing with it a gigantic horde of horror films playing across the August bank holiday weekend in Cineworld Leicester Square and the wonderful Prince Charles Cinema.

And if the brilliant blood filled horror festival is back so too are Love Horror’s Five FrightFest Facts, our exclusive series of interviews with the stars and creatives behind the horror that has been running since 2016.

Below we speak to Ian Tripp co-director of Everybody Dies By The End which received its WORLD PREMIERE at FrightFest 2022.

1. Tell us about your film?
Our film is called ‘Everybody Dies By The End’ and it’s a mockumentary from the angle of a Behind the Scenes documentary crew chronicling a horror director named Alfred Costella who is making his tenth and final film where he’s going to really up the antics in making something truly horrific even if it jeopardizes the cast and crew’s safety.

2. How did you get into making horror movies?
Ryan Schafer and I have always loved horror and I think it really starts with being scared of horror movies as children. I remember Ryan telling me about when Linda rolls her head off her body in Evil Dead II as being terrifying. And as a kid, I’ve always loved pushing the boundaries of what I was capable of watching. Starting with palatable stuff for kids like Goosebumps and later eventually becoming a big fan of things like Saw, Cloverfield, Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch Project. Things that capture my imagination and don’t fill all the blanks for me so my curiosity can start doing imaginative work. As an adult, I recognize horror to be a form of parabolic catharsis. Exercising demons and acting out of trials and tribulations as social beings.

3. What film would you love to see screened at FrightFest and why?
I’d love to see Donnie Darko on the big screen as I only caught it on DVD growing up, but with the theatres and screens FrightFest hosts would be quite special.

4. If you could create your own award to give at the FrightFest, what would it be and why?
Let’s call it the Screamer Award!

5. If your life was made into a horror film, what would it be called and who would play the starring role?
Oh gosh, this is a deep question (haha). Let’s say it’s called One Last Tripp and Dane DeHaan can play me where he’s taken over my life and I’m a character too, fighting to get my identity back from him

Everybody Dies By The End had its World Premiere at Arrow FrightFest on 29th August.
