Horror Favourites – Leonardo Fuica

Camping Trip stars Leo Zola (Leonardo Fuica), Caitlin Cameron, Hannah Forest Briand and Alex Gravenstein and is directed by Leonardo and Demian Fuica, who both make their English language feature-length directorial debuts.
In the summer of 2020, two couples decide to go on a COVID era camping trip after months of being in lockdown. The freedom of nature and the company of their best friends offer the group a rare sense of normality, but though secluded, they’re not alone. Nearby, during a botched drop off, two goons decide to go rogue; inadvertently, implicating the campers. What started as a fun-filled vacation quickly turns into a test of loyalty and survival. Suddenly the pandemic is the least of their worries.

The film was shot during the height of the pandemic in 2020, meaning requiring strict health and safety procedures were required, but this was not the only obstacle to overcome as shooting was also forced to halt for a day when a scene sounded so real to the nearby member of the public, the police were called!
Commenting on the release, Co-Director and star of Camping Trip, Leonardo Fuica said: “I’m delighted that our film will be having a multi-territory release after a great festival run. I think people vivdly remember what it was like during that first wave of covid and how it changed us all. Humans in these extreme situations can do alot of things and not always good – Camping Trip is our exploration of that.”
Leonardo has been an actor since the age of a teen. During his 27-year career, he has appeared in several films including He Shoots He Scores, 10-07 Kafka Case, Tag 1 & 2, Two Brothers 1 & 2, The American Trap, HomeTeam, Waking the Dead, Dead Zone, Rats & Rabbits and Dead of Night and many more.
In 1998, while shooting “Home Team”, he dove for the first time into film producing and was immediately hooked on it. A year after the production of the Independently and privately funded “The Last Incarnation”, he established Fuica Productions inc. with strong support from his family, all involved in the Movie business.
In 2010 Leonardo produced and screenplay his first feature film as a producer and screenplay, LA RUN, which he signed with his brother Demian has a “Fuica Brothers Film”. LA RUN has been released the 26 august 2011 and in Festivals worldwide like: Competition at World film festivals of Montréal 2011, Competitions at film francophone of Angouleme France 2011 and at International Film Francophone of Police de Liège Belgium.
He had 3 nominations at the 2012 Jutra award for best screenplay, best editing, and best supporting role. And it’s just the beginning. He attended, in 2013, “THE TVI ACTOR STUDIO” school in L.A. in the international program polishing his acting and screenwriting for 5 months and preparing his way to the U.S. market. He added to his bow in 2015 as the director with his first film THE DARK ENERGY theatrical released on October 16, 2015, in Canada.

Below Camping Trip’s Leonardo Fuica talks horror:
“So horror movies have always been a part of my library of movies even if I’m a big fan of Stanley Kubrick, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg and Charlie Chaplin, I have also always been a fan of Wes Craven, John Carpenter, Stephen King and Alfred Hitchcock.
What I like about horror movies is that you can go in so many different directions. You can have horror/ slasher, horror/comedy and you can have thriller/ horror and that’s what I think represents our movie CAMPING TRIP a thriller/ horror. If a would have to compared our movie to another one it would be like Deliverance mixed with Cabin Fever.
I have so many good horror movies that I like from Friday the 13th, to Freddy Kruger, The Exorcist, Poltergeist, The Entity, Brain Dead (from Peter Jackson), Pet Cemetery, U Turn, In the Mouth of Madness, Ju On, and so many more….
I myself had two unexplainable events in my life. You know those story that you tell but everyone laughs until it’s true.
In the woods there are so many things that can happen it’s always a good place for scary stories.”
Camping Trip will be available on Digital Download from 16th August
