Since then the fantastic festival has grown to become one of the most prestigious genre film festivals in Europe premiering the very best new movies from both new and established filmmakers from across the world.
This year our exclusive interview feature is back bringing you some insidious insights into the frightful folks whose horror films will be blowing audiences away at Grimmfest 2021.

Below we get some Grim Tidings from Michael Mayer director and co-writer of Happy Times
1. Tell us why you are at Grimmfest?
I’ve been hearing about Grimmfest for years. It’s known for having amazing lineups and a great audience that is really passionate about film. So when the invitation came, it was really a no-brainer.
2. How did you get into horror?
To be honest, I don’t know that I am “into” horror. I’m into good movies. And so many great movies, especially in recent years, are either straight-up horror, or genre hybrids.
3. What scares you the most?
After the year we’ve had, can I say “the news”? Global warming, pandemic, war, rising tyranny… Oh, but if we’re talking movies, I’d have to say psychological horror.
4. Who or what is your favourite horror character?
Hmm, the question doesn’t say hero or villain, so I’ll go with both Hannibal Lecter and Ellen Ripley.
5. What is the grimmest thing you ever saw?
Oh man, can I say “the news” again? I don’t know, too depressing.
Happy Times plays on Sat, Oct 9th, 11:15 PM @ Odeon Screen 5 and Sun, Oct 10th, 9:20 PM @ Odeon Screen 6 and you can find out more and book your ticket HERE.
