Horror Favourites – Ramin Niami

Brand new horror feature Eye Without A Face from director Ramin Niami (Paris, Shirin In Love) combines chills, thrills and bloody murder to bring the voyeur genre bang up to date.
This edgy movie creeps on to digital 23 August for its UK Premiere from Miracle M. Holed up in his LA apartment agoraphobic Henry (Dakota Shapiro – The Affair, Valley Of The Boom), spends his days hacking into the webcams of unsuspecting local young women, seeing himself as their protector and guardian angel, rather than what he really is… a stalker. But his creepy peeks take a sinister turn as he starts to suspect one of his ‘friends’, Laura (Vladka Verevko – South Park, Suits), is a killer…

When his YouTuber flat mate Eric (Luke Cook – Dynasty, Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina) steps in to try and put a stop to the twisted hobby, things take a turn for the worse. With Henry becoming more and more convinced that the woman is a murderer and Laura beginning to suspect she’s being watched, the two are soon on a collision course – who will make it out alive?
Beware the Eye Without A Face, you never know who’s looking.

Ramin Niami was born in Iran and moved to London to study at a film school, which he followed by working as a director and producer on several television documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4. After this, he moved to New York and released his first feature film Somewhere In The City. He has gone on to direct a variety of other projects including the documentary Babe’s And Ricky’s Inn and romantic comedy Shirin In Love.
Below Ramin talks about his favourite horror film:
“My favourite type of horror is less so gory or reliant on jump scares but is more so psychologically unsettling and suspenseful, like Alfred Hitchcock’s voyeuristic REAR WINDOW and PSYCHO, the disturbing PEEPING TOM which shows a killer’s point of view and REPULSION with its visual expression of a person having a psychotic break. In terms of engaging new horror, I really enjoy the use of technology in the claustrophobic UNFRIENDED and DON’T BREATHE wonderfully puts you on the edge of your story in a mainly one location story with a simple premise. IT FOLLOWS is discomforting with its use of tracking shots placing you in the shoes of the lead character that is as per the title, being creepily “followed.” I also really find that music is essential in building tension, I love the electronic modern score of SAW, which we used for our temp score, and we were very lucky to have the series’ composer, Charlie Clouser, score EYE WITHOUT A FACE.”
Eye Without A Face is released on digital Monday 23rd August
