Horror Favourites – Rae Dawn Chong

A nostalgic celebration of classic paranormal horror REBORN has screened at over 30 genre festivals worldwide, winning six awards including Best Sci-Fi Feature at Another Hole In The Head, Best Horror Feature at Mad Monster Party and Best Director at Fantasporto.

Starring Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator), Michael Pare (Streets Of Fire), Chaz Bono (American Horror Story), Rae Dawn Chong (Commando), Monte Markham (We Are Still Here) and introducing talented newcomer Kayleigh Gilbert, REBORN is a contemporary Frankenstein story about a stillborn baby girl brought back to life by an electrical storm before being abducted from hospital by a morgue attendant.

On her sixteenth birthday, empowered with the gift to manipulate electricity, she escapes her captor and sets out to find her birth mother leaving a trail of destruction behind her.

Set for release from Jinga Films we quizzed the star of Reborn, as well as Commando, Quest For Fire and The Colour Purple, Rae Dawn Chong on her favourite horror films:

“The Exorcist; Because its quiet. The subtle effects are frightening. The idea of possession is frightening. Everyone is at The end of their role. Its a study in helplessness. Then there is a child, a vulnerable little girl. The visuals are haunting almost portrait like. The nuns. It is spectacular.

GET OUT; Every person of color who integrates always wonders how authentic the acceptance into any white group will be. We are not color blind. So it is a primal premise. It hit where all of us dwell. Then it dove deeper. Brilliant. Every frame I was I vested in. Loved it.”

REBORN will be released in the US on VOD on September 17th 2019 following theatrical preview screenings at selected cinemas across the country. Check out the trailer below:
