‘Nesting’ Wins Festival Praise Ahead of VOD Release
A grieving new mother slips into paranoia and psychological instability in Nesting, the award-winning Canadian-Swiss thriller set to arrive on VOD platforms across North America on 29 May through Breaking Glass Pictures.

Directed and written by Chloé Cinq-Mars, the French-language feature follows Pénélope, portrayed by Rose-Marie Perreault, as she struggles with postpartum depression, insomnia and unresolved trauma following the death of her sister. As exhaustion begins to erode her grip on reality, increasingly disturbing experiences blur the line between hallucination and genuine threat.
The film first premiered at the Fantasia International Film Festival in 2025, where Cinq-Mars received the Best Director award. Since then, Nesting has screened at a number of genre and international festivals including Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, Fantastic Fest, SOHO Horror Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival and Calgary International Film Festival.

Breaking Glass Pictures confirmed the film will also receive a special one-night theatrical event on 26 May at selected Alamo Drafthouse locations across the United States ahead of its wider digital release. Participating cities include Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Chicago, Austin, Denver and San Francisco.
Perreault leads the cast alongside Simon Landry-Desy, Saladin Dellers, Marie Bélanger and Alex Lauzon. Critics on the festival circuit have highlighted the film’s focus on psychological deterioration and isolation, with much of the tension rooted in Pénélope’s inability to trust her own perceptions while attempting to care for her newborn child.

Cinq-Mars previously worked as a screenwriter and casting director before making her directorial debut with the short film The Cut in 2019. Her earlier writing credits include The Far Shore, while Nesting, originally titled Peau à peau, marks her first feature as director. The production completed filming under the working title Oublier Charlotte before premiering at Fantasia last summer.
Rose-Marie Perreault has steadily built a reputation within Canadian cinema following performances in Fake Tattoos, Lovely Day and Nuit blanche. Her work in Fake Tattoos earned both Prix Iris and Canadian Screen Award nominations earlier in her career.
Nesting arrives on VOD platforms across North America on 29 May 2026.
