John Carpenter Launches ‘Something Wicked’ Podcast With Bloody Disgusting
A new chapter in audio horror is underway as Bloody Disgusting and Storm King Productions join forces to launch two original scripted podcast series under the ‘John Carpenter Presents’ banner, with the first instalment, John Carpenter Presents: Something Wicked, now available worldwide.

The collaboration brings together Cineverse’s horror division and Storm King Productions, the company founded by producer Sandy King, in a move that reflects continued growth in premium audio storytelling. The partnership will deliver two original fiction series, with Something Wicked debuting as an eight-episode run and a second project currently in development.
Created by Read W. Ridley and produced by 12 Angry Bears, Something Wicked follows a young historian and a seasoned detective investigating a series of paranormal incidents in New Orleans. The series draws on reported events and regional folklore, combining supernatural elements with a crime-led structure that unfolds across its episodic format.
Sandy King, whose producing credits span decades of genre filmmaking including Prince of Darkness and They Live, confirmed that the project marks a return to podcast storytelling for Storm King Productions. The company previously explored the format with Roanoke Falls, which received recognition at the Signal Awards, and is now revisiting audio fiction with a renewed focus on genre-led content.
The involvement of John Carpenter signals a continuation of the filmmaker’s long-standing connection to horror across multiple formats. Known for directing and composing films such as Halloween, The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness, Carpenter has in recent years extended his creative output into comics and music, with Storm King Comics publishing a wide catalogue of titles and a new graphic novel, Cathedral, scheduled for release later this year.

For Cineverse, the deal strengthens its podcast division, which has seen growth through titles including Dead Space: Deep Cover and Mayfair Watchers Society. The company operates a network of more than 35 audio series, with horror remaining a key focus through its Bloody Disgusting brand and related platforms such as Bloody FM and SCREAMBOX.
Pacific Obadiah, Head of Original Programming for the Cineverse Podcast Network, highlighted the company’s ongoing investment in fiction podcasts, pointing to audience demand for immersive audio experiences within the horror space. The partnership with Storm King positions the network to further expand its original content slate while leveraging established genre credentials.
John Carpenter Presents: Something Wicked is now available on major podcast platforms, with further details on the second series expected to be announced at a later date. You can check out the first episode right here: John Carpenter Something Wicked Podcast
