Grimmfest Hit ‘Itch!’ Set For UK Digital Release In April

Bari Kang’s horror debut Itch! is set for a digital release in the UK on 20 April 2026, following its premiere at Grimmfest, where the film first screened to genre audiences. The feature will be distributed by Seven Tales, with a US release scheduled for 21 April.

Written, directed, produced by and starring Kang, Itch! marks a multi-faceted effort from the filmmaker, who takes on the central role of Jay, a widower attempting to navigate a rapidly deteriorating world. The film also features Patrick Michael Valley, Ximena Uribe, Mia Ventura Lucas and Douglas Stirling, alongside Kang’s daughter Olivia Kang, who appears as Jay’s on-screen child.

Set against the backdrop of a spreading outbreak known as “The Itch”, the story follows a father and daughter seeking refuge as society begins to collapse. The infection causes those affected to lose control, becoming increasingly erratic and violent, leading to widespread panic. In search of safety, the pair take shelter in a convenience store, only to find that the situation inside proves just as unstable as the chaos outside.

As tensions rise within the confined space, the film focuses on the breakdown of trust among the group forced together by circumstance. With the threat of infection looming and uncertainty surrounding those around them, the characters are pushed into difficult decisions as they attempt to survive.

The project builds on Kang’s previous work as an independent filmmaker, including his earlier feature The Scrapper, which secured distribution internationally. With Itch!, he moves into the horror genre.

The film’s festival run helped establish early attention, with its Grimmfest screening positioning it among a slate of independent genre titles. Its move to digital platforms reflects a common release path for films emerging from the festival circuit, allowing wider access following limited theatrical exposure.

Seven Tales will handle the UK rollout across digital services, bringing the film to home audiences shortly after its US debut. The release strategy places Itch! within a growing number of independently produced horror titles reaching viewers through streaming and on-demand platforms.
