‘Play Dead’ Turns Survival into a Brutal Mind Game
A desperate battle for survival unfolds in suffocating fashion in Play Dead, a tense horror thriller arriving on UK digital platforms from 9 March courtesy of Seven Tales. The newly released trailer offers a glimpse of the film’s claustrophobic premise, in which deception becomes the only weapon left to a woman trapped with a killer.

Directed by Carlos Goitia, known for genre titles such as Nightmare Radio The Night Stalker and Asylum Twisted Horror and Fantasy Tales, the film draws inspiration from the gritty intensity of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the brutal cat-and-mouse dynamic of The Collector. The result is a stripped-down survival story that unfolds largely within a single grim location.
The film centres on Alison, played by Paula Brasca, who awakens injured in a decaying basement with no memory of how she arrived there. Her surroundings quickly make the situation clear. The room is filled with the bodies of women who have already met a violent end, their lifeless forms scattered across the concrete floor. Alison soon realises she has been abducted by a masked killer whose brutal methods have already claimed numerous victims.

With the killer still inside the house, Alison’s only chance is to pretend she is dead. Remaining motionless among the corpses, she must carefully watch and wait for the right opportunity to escape. Each moment becomes a delicate balancing act, where even the smallest movement could expose her.
As the hours pass, the danger intensifies. Alison begins to notice strange sounds and activity from the upper levels of the house. What she eventually discovers suggests something even more disturbing unfolding above her hiding place. A grotesque ritual appears to be taking place, turning what initially seemed like a straightforward abduction into something far more sinister.

Damian Castillo and Catalina Motto co-star in the film, which builds its tension around Alison’s silent struggle to remain unnoticed while slowly plotting a way out. The screenplay from Gonzalo Mellid and Camilo Zaffora focuses on psychological endurance as much as physical survival, placing the audience directly alongside Alison as she measures every breath and movement.
Following a successful run on the festival circuit, Play Dead now moves to digital audiences, bringing its relentless suspense to home viewers. Catch it yourself when Play Dead will be available on UK digital platforms from 9 March.
