Wayans Reunite as ‘Scary Movie 6’ Skewers Modern Slashers
The masked killers are back in fashion and so are the gags. Paramount Pictures has unleashed the first full trailer for Scary Movie 6, the long-awaited sixth instalment in the parody franchise, reuniting the Wayans family with original stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall for a fresh round of horror send-ups.

Arriving in UK cinemas later this year, the film lands at a pointed moment for the genre. Scream 7 opened in cinemas just last weekend, underscoring the continued cultural grip of the slasher revival that first inspired the original Scary Movie in 2000. Now, twenty-six years after Cindy Campbell first ran from a suspiciously familiar masked killer, the Core Four are once again in the crosshairs.
Faris returns as Cindy, joined by Hall as Brenda Meeks, Marlon Wayans as Shorty and Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins. The new film promises to skewer everything from legacy sequels and elevated horror to origin stories and the supposedly final chapters that never quite stick. Nothing, according to the studio, is off limits.

Directed by Michael Tiddes and written by Marlon, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans alongside Rick Alvarez, the project marks the first major collaboration between the Wayans brothers on the franchise in nearly two decades. Produced in association with Miramax and distributed by Paramount Pictures, the film also brings back familiar faces from the early entries, including Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Dave Sheridan and Cheri Oteri.
Anthony Anderson has confirmed his return, while newcomers such as Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans and Heidi Gardner join the expanding cast. The film was shot at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, wrapping principal photography late last year.

Early footage in the trailer suggests a scattergun approach to modern genre hits, with nods to recent horror heavyweights and long-running franchises that have defined the past decade. Marlon Wayans has previously indicated that contemporary titles such as Get Out and Terrifier 3 will fall under the film’s comedic microscope, alongside the perennial influence of the Scream saga.
First released in 2000, Scary Movie became a box office juggernaut by blending slapstick with razor-sharp genre awareness. With horror once again dominating multiplex screens, the sixth entry aims to tap into that renewed appetite while reminding audiences that no trend is safe from ridicule.
Scary Movie is set for release in cinemas later this year. The new trailer is available to view now.
