‘Stranger Things 5’ Volume 2 Trailer Sets the Stage for Hawkins’ Final Battle
Netflix has teased more about for the closing chapters of Stranger Things, with the trailer for the second volume of the fifth and final season, which is set to premiere on Boxing Day at 1am GMT. The concluding episode will follow a week later, launching worldwide on New Year’s Day at 1am GMT, bringing one of streaming’s most influential series to its long-anticipated conclusion.

Volume 1 of season five is already available and has delivered a record-breaking opening for the platform. Netflix reports that the first four episodes amassed 59.6 million views in their initial five days, making it the biggest English-language series debut in the service’s history. The figure places the season behind only the second and third runs of Squid Game in Netflix’s all-time debut rankings and marks a significant jump on the opening performance of season four, which premiered under a different measurement system.
The renewed surge in interest has rippled across the platform. In the run-up to the new season, every previous chapter of Stranger Things appeared simultaneously in Netflix’s global top 10, an unprecedented feat for a single series. The scale of demand was such that the platform briefly experienced technical strain during the launch window, despite reported infrastructure upgrades intended to manage the traffic.

Set in the autumn of 1987, the final season returns to a Hawkins reshaped by the aftermath of the Rifts. Vecna remains at large, the town is under military quarantine and Eleven is once again forced into hiding as the group prepares for a decisive confrontation. The final stretch brings the original characters back together, with the series positioning its closing conflict as the most perilous yet for the residents of the Indiana town.
The cast for the final run includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke and Jamie Campbell Bower, alongside new additions including Linda Hamilton. Production is overseen by creators Matt and Ross Duffer through Upside Down Pictures, with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen also serving as executive producers.
Since its debut in 2016, Stranger Things has become a cornerstone of Netflix’s original programming strategy, extending far beyond television through stage productions, live experiences, publishing and animation projects. With its final episodes scheduled across the festive period, the series is poised to dominate year-end viewing conversations as it brings its story to a close. Check out the trailer below.
