‘Creepshow 2’ Brings Romero and King Horror Classic Back in 4K Ultra HD
More than three decades after its release, Creepshow 2 has been given a new lease of life with a limited edition 4K Ultra HD restoration from Arrow Films, available now in the UK. The 1987 anthology sequel, directed by Michael Gornick from a screenplay by George A. Romero and based on stories by Stephen King, remains a cult favourite for its macabre humour and comic book-inspired style.

The film continues the tradition of its predecessor by presenting three grisly tales tied together by an animated wraparound. In Old Chief Wood’nhead, a store’s wooden statue takes violent revenge on a gang of robbers. The Raft strands a group of teenagers on a floating platform as a mysterious creature circles beneath. Finally, The Hitch-hiker sees a motorist pursued by the victim of her hit-and-run in an unrelenting chase.
This new release includes a full 4K restoration from the original negative, presented in Dolby Vision with multiple audio options, including DTS-HD MA surround sound. Fans will find extensive supplementary features, from interviews with director Gornick and actor Tom Savini to behind-the-scenes featurettes on the special effects work of Howard Berger and Greg Nicotero. A collector’s booklet with essays and the comic adaptation of the unfilmed segment Pinfall is also part of the package.

The cast features George Kennedy, Dorothy Lamour, Lois Chiles and Tom Wright, alongside a cameo from King himself. While less expansive than the original Creepshow, the sequel’s blend of pulp violence and EC Comics aesthetics has cemented its place in horror history.
For Arrow, Creepshow 2 adds to a growing library of restorations that spotlight horror and cult cinema from the 1970s and 1980s. The limited edition 4K set is priced at £29.99 and includes reversible sleeve artwork designed by illustrator Mike Saputo.

The release also highlights the continuing demand for physical media among horror collectors. In an era dominated by digital streaming, limited edition restorations with extensive extras have become key for genre fans seeking definitive editions of cult titles. Creepshow 2 sits within that trend, offering not only a visual upgrade but a detailed archival record of its production, special effects and legacy.
Creepshow 2 is out now on 4K Ultra HD in the UK – just in time for some serious spooky season appreciation.
