‘Evil Dead In Concert’ Tour Summons Live Horror Across the US

A cult horror classic is set to return in a form few could have anticipated. Evil Dead In Concert will launch a 50-date US tour this September, blending Sam Raimi’s chaotic 1981 supernatural horror with a full-scale live performance of its original score by composer Joe LoDuca. Produced by Black Ink Presents and Sony Music Entertainment, the event promises an audiovisual descent into cinematic madness – just in time for Halloween.

The concert experience kicks off on 22 September in Buffalo, New York, and will run through to late November, hitting major cities including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Atlanta. The tour’s centrepiece is a newly restored screening of The Evil Dead, performed in full with LoDuca’s experimental, at times jarring, orchestral soundtrack delivered live on stage. With eerie strings, aggressive percussion, and unsettling effects, the score remains one of the most inventive soundscapes in horror.

It also marked the start of LoDuca’s career. Having composed The Evil Dead as his debut film score, he has since become a regular collaborator with Raimi and an Emmy-winning composer. Speaking on the new tour, LoDuca described the show as an “intense, aural descent into hell” and hinted at a few surprises for returning fans. He previously released Evil Dead: A Nightmare Reimagined, an updated recording of the film’s music.

For those unfamiliar, The Evil Dead follows five students who retreat to a remote cabin, where they inadvertently awaken demonic forces. Its blend of relentless gore, low-budget ingenuity and inventive camerawork turned it into a cultural touchstone, leading to sequels, a remake, and a television spin-off. Despite modest beginnings, it remains one of the most significant horror films of the VHS era.

The concert is produced by Black Ink CEO John Kinsner, who called the event “cinematic chaos, demonic energy, and killer sounds”. Known for similar live-to-film projects including Labyrinth, Ghostbusters and The Nightmare Before Christmas, Black Ink’s productions often combine cult appeal with high-level stagecraft.

The tour is rated NC-17 due to the film’s extreme violence and gore, so this concert is strictly not one for the faint-hearted.
