Hawkins Under Siege in New ‘Stranger Things 5’ Teaser

Exactly nine years after Stranger Things first gripped audiences, Netflix has shared a new poster and teaser trailer for Stranger Things 5, setting the stage for a final descent into the Upside Down. The striking poster, released on July 15 to mark the show’s anniversary, shows the core group cruising on their bikes beneath a blood-red sky. Overhead, Vecna’s ominous silhouette dominates a stormy horizon, signalling one last battle for the kids of Hawkins.

Set in the fall of 1987, Stranger Things 5 finds the town reeling from the opening of the Rifts and under military quarantine as Eleven hides from a government that treats her like a threat. According to the official synopsis published alongside the poster, Hawkins’s scar tissue has only deepened. “Our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming – and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone – the full party – standing together, one last time.”

Just 24 hours later, the first trailer arrived to ratchet up anticipation. Audiences are treated to quick flashes of Steve’s unmistakable mop of hair, Eddie Munson’s vandalised gravestone hinting at yes more painful memories for the group, and Eleven soaring in a burst of telekinetic power. Will, too, seems to take flight, suggesting his connection to the Upside Down may finally pay off. Series veterans David Harbour and Winona Ryder reappear, joined by Linda Hamilton in a cameo that sees her packing firepower against some unseen horror. Most jaw-dropping is a gruesome, final-form glimpse of Vecna, his twisted new visage undercut by a roar of static and fractured light.

This three-volume finale will roll out in Netflix’s first-of-its-kind release plan. Volume 1 (Episodes 1–4) arrives on November 26 at 5 p.m. PT, followed by Volume 2 (Episodes 5–7) on December 25, and the season’s finale on December 31. Each instalment promises to deliver on the promise of “One Last Adventure,” as the poster’s tagline teases.

Over the past nine years, Stranger Things has become a cultural juggernaut, turning its young cast into household names while reviving ‘80s nostalgia. As the franchise closes this chapter, fans are bracing for a showdown that may finally sever the link between Hawkins and its shadow world. With Vecna’s return confirmed and Hawkins on its knees, Stranger Things 5 looks set to deliver the high-stakes drama and supernatural suspense that made the series a global smash.
