Masked Menace Returns as ‘Strangers Chapter 2’ Trailer Shocks Fans

Lionsgate UK has launched the first trailer and new artwork for The Strangers – Chapter 2, promising a relentless continuation of the home invasion saga when it arrives in cinemas on 26 September 2025. Directed by Renny Harlin and penned by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland from Bryan Bertino’s original characters, this second instalment picks up immediately after the harrowing events of Chapter 1, following sole survivor Maya Lucas as she tries to piece her life back together.

The trailer opens on Maya (Madelaine Petsch) lying in a sterile hospital room, the flicker of fluorescent lights casting long shadows across her bandaged form. A tension-steeped score builds as she steps out into a deserted suburban street, every distant creak and echo suggesting that the masked assailants are never far behind. Brief cuts show Gabriel Basso’s Gregory tracking eerie footprints in mud, while Ema Horvath’s Shelly returns to the scene of that fateful night, her hopeful expression dissolving into terror as she catches sight of a familiar, blank-eyed mask.

Artwork released alongside the trailer offers a stark visual: Maya stands framed by broken glass, the silhouettes of Scarecrow, Dollface and Pin-Up Girl looming behind her. The colour palette is drenched in blood-red and gunmetal grey, signalling that Chapter 2 will delve even deeper into the characters’ psyche and survival instincts.

Principal photography for all three chapters began in Bratislava in September 2022 and wrapped two months later. Harlin, whose previous credits include Die Hard 2 and Deep Blue Sea, says this sequel adopts a fresh approach to Maya’s ordeal.

Produced by Fifth Element’s Courtney Solomon alongside Mark Canton, Christopher Milburn, Gary Raskin, Alastair Burlingham and Charlie Dombek, The Strangers – Chapter 2 stands as the direct sequel to 2024’s Chapter 1 and the midpoint of a trilogy shot back-to-back. Lionsgate will distribute the film in the United States and the UK, taking over the slot once earmarked for a now-cancelled Saw XI.

Fans of the series will note how the sequel shifts from a single-location terror to a broader game of cat and mouse, with the masked intruders manipulating Maya at every turn. The trailer hints at unexpected alliances, desperate escapes and a final confrontation that will set the stage for Chapter 3.

With its chilling imagery, tight pacing and an actress on the brink of breaking out, The Strangers – Chapter 2 promises to expand the mythos of Bertino’s original concept while keeping viewers on edge until the climax.
