’28 Years Later’ Sparks Beer Collaboration with Tiny Rebel
The innovative Welsh craft brewery Tiny Rebel has announced the release of two limited-edition beers in partnership with Sony Pictures, timed to coincide with the upcoming theatrical release of 28 Years Later, the next chapter in the genre-defining horror series that began with 28 Days Later in 2002. The beers, titled ‘2′ and ‘8′, became available from 22 May, exactly 28 days ahead of the film’s release on 19 June.

Billed as a tribute to the “ferocious energy” of the new film, the two 200ml IPAs feature bold flavour profiles and are intended to be enjoyed both individually and together. 2, a blood orange liqueur-infused IPA, carries a 4.3% ABV and is described as having a smooth yet punchy bite. 8, also 4.3% ABV, is a tropical pineapple IPA crafted to balance the zest of its counterpart with a sweeter, juicier finish. The beers can also be combined over ice with a spirit of choice to create a cocktail-style drink in the spirit of the brand’s more experimental offerings. We can’t wait to try them!
To promote the launch, Tiny Rebel is running a competition tied to each can purchased, with prizes including exclusive merchandise, cinema tickets, and a top prize getaway to the Lake District – one of the filming locations for 28 Years Later – complete with a wilderness survival experience. The competition runs until 27 June, with winners announced from 20 June.
Speaking on the collaboration, Tiny Rebel co-founder Brad Cummings said, “This is more than beer; it’s a celebration of a genre-defining moment in film. ‘2’ and ‘8’ are brewed to be as bold, unexpected, and unforgettable as the movie itself.” Peter Staines, Director of Partnerships & Promotions at Sony Pictures Releasing, echoed the sentiment, calling the beers “a brilliant twist on the unexpected, and the perfect way to bring the film to life beyond the cinema.”

In addition to online availability, Tiny Rebel is hosting themed events at its Cardiff and Newport venues. A special 28 Days Later screening and quiz night will be held at Tiny Rebel Cardiff on 18 June, followed by a full evening event in Newport on 19 June that includes a screening, two-course meal, drink, and quiz. Both are ticketed events, with the Newport package priced at £28 per person.
Directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, 28 Years Later revisits the dystopian Britain first imagined over two decades ago. With a cast led by Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell and Ralph Fiennes, the film explores a quarantined island community and the consequences of one survivor’s decision to return to the mainland. The film serves as a continuation of the original story, reuniting its key creative team while introducing a new generation of characters facing the evolving threat of the rage virus.
The beers are available via Tiny Rebel’s online store in packs of two (£7), four (£12), twelve (£32) and twenty-four (£60), with the competition open to all UK residents aged 18 and over.
