Robert Eggers’ ‘Nosferatu’ Home Release

Robert Eggers’ reimagining of Nosferatu, which captivated audiences and secured five BAFTA nominations, is making its way to home entertainment with an extended cut and a host of behind-the-scenes content. Set for release on 7th April 2025, Nosferatu will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD, courtesy of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment in partnership with Spirit Entertainment.

The film, a gothic horror epic steeped in Eggers’ signature visual storytelling, stars Bill Skarsgård (It, Barbarian) as the monstrous Count Orlok, Lily-Rose Depp (The Idol, The King) as the tormented Ellen, and Nicholas Hoult (Renfield, The Menu) as her husband. The stellar cast is rounded out by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, and Willem Dafoe, all of whom contribute to the film’s haunting, otherworldly atmosphere.

For those who missed it in cinemas, the home release promises an even deeper dive into Eggers’ nightmarish vision, featuring an extended cut with never-before-seen footage. Fans can also expect an array of exclusive bonus features, including behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, and a director’s commentary from Eggers himself.

Among the highlights of the special features is Nosferatu: A Modern Masterpiece, which takes audiences behind the curtain to explore the meticulous craftsmanship that went into creating the film. Eggers’ long-standing dream of reinterpreting the 1922 classic is examined in Breathing Life into a Dream, while Becoming Count Orlok offers a look at Bill Skarsgård’s transformation into one of cinema’s most iconic vampires. Additional featurettes delve into the film’s striking production design, atmospheric cinematography, and chilling score, all of which have been widely praised for their ability to evoke both beauty and dread.

Three deleted scenes are also included: Ellen at the Window, Harding’s Bedchamber/Dark Corridor, and Behold, the Third Night—giving fans an even greater glimpse into Eggers’ world of gothic horror.

With its eerie cinematography, period-accurate production design, and unnerving performances, Nosferatu has already cemented itself as a modern horror masterpiece. The upcoming home release allows fans to experience the film in greater depth, offering insights into its creation and expanding upon Eggers’ chilling vision.
