‘Heart Eyes’ Killer Strikes Fear Into Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day has always been a time for romance, but Heart Eyes, the new slasher film from Spyglass and Screen Gems, is set to drench the holiday in blood. Arriving in cinemas on February 14, 2025 in the UK and Ireland (and February 7th in the US), the film redefines the season of love with a chilling premise: no couple is safe from the deadly “Heart Eyes Killer.”

Directed by Josh Ruben (Scare Me, Werewolves Within), Heart Eyes centres on the Heart Eyes Killer, a masked figure infamous for his Valentine’s Day killing sprees. For years, he’s targeted romantic couples, turning their celebrations into unspeakable tragedy. This year, the killer adds a macabre twist by stalking a pair of platonic co-workers he mistakenly believes are romantically involved. What ensues is a tense, blood-soaked game of survival as the characters navigate shadowy woods, a drive-in movie theatre, and other sinister settings, all while set to a haunting cover of Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”.
The cast of Heart Eyes brings together a blend of fresh talent and familiar faces from the horror genre. Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer, Cloak & Dagger) plays the film’s leading role, showcasing her range as an actress stepping into darker, more intense material. Mason Gooding, who audiences may recognise from the Scream reboot, adds his charisma and sharp wit to the fray. Jordana Brewster (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Fast & Furious) and Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Idle Hands) round out the cast, bringing star power and genre experience to the project.

Behind the camera, Josh Ruben continues to solidify his reputation as a rising star in horror filmmaking. His prior works demonstrated his ability to blend tension and humour, and Heart Eyes promises to build on that foundation. The screenplay, penned by Phillip Murphy, Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky), and Michael Kennedy (Freaky), brings a mix of scares and sharp commentary to the slasher subgenre.
Screen Gems, the studio behind Heart Eyes, is no stranger to the world of horror. With hits like Resident Evil, Don’t Breathe, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, the studio has a proven track record of creating successful and memorable horror films. Partnering with Spyglass, known for its work on the Scream franchise, ensures that Heart Eyes will receive the creative and technical expertise needed to stand out in a crowded genre.

Produced by Christopher Landon, Greg Gilreath, and Adam Hendricks, and with executive producers Gary Barber, Chris Stone, Mel Turner, Phillip Murphy, and Michael Kennedy, Heart Eyes promises to be a thrilling addition to 2025’s horror lineup. It has been a long time since we had a good Valentine’s Day-themed horror to enjoy (My Bloody Valentine anyone?). Fingers crossed Heart Eyes will give us what we’re craving!
