‘Smile 2’ Featurette Teases Bloodier, Darker Sequel with Naomi Scott
The much anticipated sequel Smile 2 is gearing up for its October 18 release, and to fuel the excitement, Paramount Pictures has dropped an all-new behind-the-scenes featurette, offering a glimpse into the sequel’s bigger, bolder, and bloodier world. With Naomi Scott taking centre stage and Parker Finn returning as writer, director, and producer, this sneak peek delves into the terrifying evolution of the Smile franchise.

Fans can now get an insider’s look at what’s to come by watching the featurette. Parker Finn, who masterminded the original film, explains the challenge of creating a sequel that takes the Smile universe to new, more sinister heights. “If I was going to approach a sequel, I needed to find a character that I could find something thematic to explore,” Finn remarks in the featurette, introducing us to Skye Riley—played by Naomi Scott—a global pop star facing unimaginable horrors.
In Smile 2, Skye Riley is about to embark on a world tour when she starts experiencing terrifying and inexplicable events that threaten her sanity. Despite being surrounded by countless fans and handlers, Skye’s increasingly isolated experience takes her on a disturbing journey into the depths of her past. The sequel doesn’t shy away from taking its scares to the extreme, and Finn, who describes the sequel as “bolder, nastier, and bloodier,” promises an experience that amplifies everything fans loved about the first film, but with a tenfold increase in intensity.

Naomi Scott shares in the featurette how Finn’s confidence in filmmaking drives the tension to new extremes. Smile 2, she says, “runs the gamut of being a more internal movie to just being completely unhinged.” The film’s protagonist, Skye, becomes trapped in a battle against The Entity, the dark force that passes from one victim to another by forcing them to take their own life in front of a witness. This cyclical horror is what haunts Smile 2, and Finn promises new twists that will shock both Skye and audiences.
Returning alongside Scott are actors Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Kyle Gallner, adding to the tension as they navigate the terrifying chain of events. The film also stars Peter Jacobson, Ray Nicholson, Dylan Gelula, and Raúl Castillo. With Temple Hill Productions, Bad Feeling, and Parker Finn himself producing, Smile 2 looks set to exceed its predecessor in every aspect—delivering more scares, more unsettling visuals, and deeper emotional turmoil.

The sequel maintains its signature psychological twist as The Entity preys on Skye’s worst fears, tearing at her from within as she struggles to differentiate between her haunted reality and the pressures of her superstar life. As Finn describes, Smile 2 aims to “find new ways to trick both Skye and the audience,” taking viewers on a relentless ride that ventures further into darkness.
Smile 2 will be available in cinemas, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and premium large formats on October 18. Judging by the featurette, Parker Finn’s vision for the sequel is ambitious, plunging deeper into the psychological terror that made the original Smile a sensation. Get ready to confront your fears once again—this time with the stakes higher and the smiles darker than ever.
