‘Creeping Death’: A Haunting New Halloween Slasher on SCREAMBOX

Cineverse has officially announced the acquisition of the highly anticipated supernatural slasher film Creeping Death, marking a thrilling addition to their SCREAMBOX streaming service. Scheduled for a fall release, the film promises to be a spine-chilling highlight of the Halloween season, tapping into ancient Celtic mythology to deliver a unique horror experience.

The film, directed and written by Matt Sampere, is based on his short film of the same name. Creeping Death made its world premiere at London’s prestigious FrightFest Film Festival, receiving praise for its atmospheric dread and innovative take on Halloween traditions. Sampere also stars in the film, alongside a talented cast including Monique Parent, Alan Maxson, Delian Lincourt, Hunter Kohl, Ian Brown, Elise Rackemann, K Cody Hunt, Andy Horowitz, Jody Pucello, and Scott Lea.

While trying to enjoy a peaceful Halloween with his mother, Tim is paid a visit by his rambunctious, up-for-anything friends. After reluctantly letting them inside the house he becomes intertwined with the circumstances of their Halloween prankings. One that turns out has broken a sacred tradition kept between humans and otherworldly deities known as the Aos Si.

The Aos Si, vengeful spirits from Celtic mythology, play a central role in Creeping Death, infusing the film with a rich historical backdrop and a sense of ancient terror. This marks the first time these deities have been incorporated into a supernatural slasher film, a testament to Sampere’s innovative approach to the genre.

“Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved slasher films and celebrating Halloween,” says Sampere. “I knew I wanted to dive into the holiday’s lore for my first feature, and that’s how I learned about the Aos Si — vengeful spirits related to trick or treating in Celtic mythology. Creeping Death is the first supernatural slasher to incorporate this deity. I hope viewers enjoy my love letter to Halloween, its traditions, and a warning to those who trick.”

Produced by Sampere, Jason Scott Goldberg (Glorious), Erika McGowan, Brenda Block, and Tyler Dane Sutton, Creeping Death promises to be a fresh and terrifying addition to the Halloween viewing lineup. The acquisition deal was negotiated by Brandon Hill, Director of Acquisitions for Cineverse, and Jason Scott Goldberg on behalf of the film.
