Never Let Go is helmed by Alexandre Aja, renowned for his work on Haute Tension, The Hills Have Eyes (2006) and Crawl, and crafted by the creative minds behind Stranger Things and Arrival. The film is written by KC Coughlin and Ryan Grassby, with an impressive production team including Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Dan Levine, and Alexandre Aja himself. The film also boasts an impressive list of executive producers, including Academy Award winner Halle Berry, who also stars in the movie, along with Holly Jeter, Daniel Clarke, Emily Morris, Christopher Woodrow, and Connor DiGregorio.

The film centres on a mother, played by Halle Berry, and her twin sons, portrayed by Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins, who are tormented by a malicious spirit. Set against the backdrop of an evil force taking over the world beyond their front doorstep, the family’s only protection is their home and their tight-knit bond. To survive, they must stay connected at all times, even going so far as to tether themselves with ropes. However, when one of the boys begins to question the reality of the evil presence, the family’s unity is shattered, triggering a desperate fight for survival.

Halle Berry, known for her versatile acting skills, has previously showcased her prowess in the horror genre with notable roles in Gothika (2003) and The Call (2013).

The film’s development journey began in August 2020 when Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby’s horror script Mother Land was acquired by Shawn Levy’s company, 21 Laps Entertainment, with Lionsgate set to distribute. Initially, Mark Romanek was attached to direct, but by May 2021, Alexandre Aja took over the directorial reins, and Halle Berry joined the cast. The film’s title was later changed to Never Let Go.

Filming took place in Vancouver, British Columbia, from April 17 to June 2, 2023. The eerie and atmospheric locations of Vancouver provided the perfect backdrop for this intense horror story.
