First Look at Upcoming Horror ‘Cara’
At a time where horror films continue to push boundaries, upcoming release Cara presents itself as a pitch-black psychological horror that doesn’t shy away from confronting the darkest aspects of human existence. Directed by Hayden Hewitt, this film explores the harrowing depths of mental illness, addiction, and the desolate landscape of online sex work, wrapped in a narrative that’s as surreal as it is violently shocking.

Set against a backdrop of paranoia and the chilling underbelly of the sex industry, Cara tells the story of a woman of the same time, portrayed by Glaswegian actress Elle O’Hara. Cara’s life is a relentless cycle of broadcasting pornographic live streams to make ends meet, haunted by the fear of being sent back to Sunnyside, an institution rife with abuse and torture. In a desperate bid to escape her nightmares, Cara hatches a horrifying plan, setting off a chain of events that delve into paranoia, the sex industry’s exploitative nature, and the engulfing darkness that threatens to consume anyone.
Johnny Vivash brings to life the character of John Fisk, adding a layer of intensity to the film’s already compelling narrative. Vivash, known for his roles in award-winning shorts and horror features (such as Isaac (2023)) across the UK and Europe, brings depth to a story that navigates the treacherous waters of human despair and resilience.

Director Hayden Hewitt, with a background that spans special makeup effects, filmmaking, and co-founding the controversial website LiveLeak.com, crafts Cara with a keen eye for the macabre and a heart for storytelling. Hewitt’s love for horror, honed through years of admiring genre giants like George A. Romero and Lucio Fulci, is evident in the film’s commitment to not just scare, but also provoke thought and elicit deep emotional responses from its audience.
Cara promises an unflinching look at themes many find uncomfortable, yet undeniably human. The film, shot in the UK, showcases Hewitt’s ability to weave a narrative that’s both a psychological exploration and a horror spectacle.
