“Trunk”: Claustrophobic Thriller Set to Emerge on Prime Video

Trunk movie 2023

Outside the Club is set to excite audiences with the release of Trunk, a pulse-pounding German thriller scheduled for its grand debut on Prime Video on January 26, 2024. Directed by the visionary Marc Schießer, celebrated for his contributions to the German series Wishlist, this film is expected to redefine the contours of the thriller genre.

The film introduces viewers to 28-year-old medical student Malina, portrayed by the award-winning Berlin actress Sina Martens, known for her roles in The Perfumier and Tatort. Malina’s world is turned upside down when she wakes up disoriented in the locked trunk of a car. With no memory of how she got there, her only lifeline to the outside world is her mobile phone. As the vehicle hurtles towards a terrifying secret, Malina must wage a desperate battle for survival, confronting not only her captors but also the dark truths she’s been running from.

Trunk has already piqued interest, making its world premiere at Filmfestival Cologne and winning the Best Thriller Feature at Nightmares Film Festival. The film, produced by Schießer and his partner Tobias Lohf under the Outside the Club banner, boasts a talented cast including Artjom Gilz, Luise Helm, and Poal Cairo, each delivering performances that intensify the film’s nail-biting tension.

Philip Pratt, Amazon’s Head of German Originals, describes Trunk as a wild ride through a spectrum of emotions. The film’s unique narrative and intense storytelling are set to captivate viewers, offering a claustrophobic thriller experience reminiscent of single-location action features like Ryan Reynolds’ “Buried.”

As Prime Video continues to explore the realm of action-packed, entertaining shows, “Trunk” stands out as a testament to the platform’s commitment to delivering high-quality, thrilling content. Brace yourself for Trunk, released this Friday, for January 26.
