Shudder Unveils Chilling Irish Folk-Horror ‘Unwelcome’

Shudder, the premium streaming service known for its thrilling horror content, is set to release the spine-chilling creature feature Unwelcome on Friday, June 23rd. The Irish folk-horror film promises to immerse audiences in a world of malevolent and murderous goblins lurking within the ancient woods of rural Ireland.

The story follows Maya and Jamie, a married couple seeking refuge from their urban nightmare. They hope to find tranquility in their new rural home, but their dreams quickly turn into a living nightmare as they discover the presence of the terrifying Redcaps. In Irish mythology, the Redcaps are called upon to aid souls in desperate need, but there is always a steep price to pay for their assistance. As warned by their new neighbors, Maya and Jamie find themselves facing a sinister battle against these vengeful creatures.

Unwelcome boasts a talented cast, including Hannah John-Kamen (Red Sonja, Ready Player One), Douglas Booth (That Dirty Black Bag, The Dirt), Colm Meaney (Gangs of London, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (6 Degrees, Derry Girls), Chris Walley (Bloodlands, The Young Offenders), and Kristian Nairn (Game of Thrones).

In addition to Unwelcome, Shudder will also be releasing the survival thriller Quicksand on Friday, July 14th. The film follows an American couple on the verge of divorce who find themselves trapped in a pit of quicksand during a storm while hiking through the rainforest in Colombia. As they battle the elements and a venomous snake, their struggle for survival becomes a gripping and heart-pounding ordeal. Quicksand stars Carolina Gaitàn (Encanto) and Allan Hawco (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan).
