The latest regular feature on the horror calendar in East Sussex, Corin Hardy’s Horrorthon is back again at the The Picture House, Uckfield this Halloween with a clutch of classic horror.

Horror director Corin is working with his favourite independent cinema to deliver shocks and shrieks with four days of horror screenings over the Halloween weekend. And there’s something for all the family.

When asked about his love for Halloween, he explained “Halloween is very important to me. I used to put on a night of horror movies for my friends entitled ‘The Horrorthon’. This would normally take place in my bedroom, then my parents lounge and now, thanks to The Uckfield Picture House, I get to screen my favourite Halloween movies at the cinema with you!”

The frightening fun starts on fang-tastic Friday 28th October. Vampire genre fans will eagerly anticipate Corin’s first offering – a 35th anniversary screening of The Lost Boys (1987). Directed with rebellious candour by Joel Schumacher and featuring an incredible ‘brat-pack’ cast that includes Keifer Sutherland, Jason Patrick and Corey’s Haim & Feldman. Stay in your seats for the 30th Anniversary screening of Bram Stoker’s Dracula 1992. Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘Dracula’ is certainly the most lavish rendition of the gothic vampire story to be rendered on the cinema screen.

Saturday 29th October is all about family with our Tim Burton Double Bill. Frankenweenie, Burtons model-animated homage to the story of ‘Frankenstein’ is our Saturday Morning Kids Club, all seats just £3.50 (no unaccompanied adults). In the afternoon you can enjoy the stunning Corpse Bride, a beautifully macabre, fantastical and darkly funny animated feature.

Sunday 30th October sees a very special afternoon with the 100th Anniversary screening of the father of all horrors Nosferatu (1922), you can only imagine what it must have been like to visit The Picture House in 1922 to witness one of the first horror movies of all time! Plus as it would have been in 1922, we have live piano accompaniment from Olivier Award winning composer and conductor Terry Davies (Florence Foster Jenkins, The Kings Speech). Later that evening we have the 40th Anniversary screening of Corin’s favourite film, John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982). An innovative and intense, incredible creature-feature ‘whodunnit’ set in Antarctica…

On Halloween itself, Monday 31st October, Corin has chosen Halloween’s most haunted, Tobe Hooper’s terrifying supernatural shocker Poltergeist (1982) also celebrating is 40th Anniversary to close the Horrorthon.
