New images from What the Waters Left Behind: Scars
In 2017, writer-director duo Luciano and Nicolás Onetti released What the Waters Left Behind, an award winning Argentinian horror that was well received at festivals.

In the film, a group of young, documentary film makers descend on a remote, decaying Argentinian town which was mysteriously wiped off the map in the 1980s. In their pursuit to find out exactly what happened, the group happen upon an unhinged group of locals and the terrifying truth of what became of the residents is soon very clear.
Following the film’s success, Nicolás Onetti has delivered a sequel – What the Waters Left Behind: Scars.
The film was shot in the atmospheric village of Epecuén, Argentina, the tourist resort near Buenos Aires that sat underwater for 25 years after a dam broke in 1985. The waters then receded several years ago and the ruins of Epecuén emerged exposing a bleak and deserted landscape.
This time round it’s a rock group that has found itself in the unfortunate position of finding the town and it’s feral inhabitants.

The trailer of the film will have its world premiere at Marche du Film (Festival de Cannes) on May 20th.
