Psycho Live!

1The Albert Hall proudly presents the Manchester debut of the live cinema screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s cinematic masterpiece, PSYCHO, with the live soundtrack provided by Manchester Camerata (Written by Bernard Herrmann, 1960).

After selling out performances in London’s Roundhouse, Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall and Bristol’s Colston Hall; The Albert Hall is ecstatic to bring this live cinema event to Manchester for the very first time on Halloween Weekend 2016 (Sunday 30th October).

Alfred Hitchcock’s powerful, complex psychological thriller, Psycho (1960) is the ‘mother’ of all modern horror suspense films. It single-handedly ushered in an era of inferior screen ‘slashers’ with bloodletting and graphic, shocking killings (e.g. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Halloween (1978), Motel Hell (1980), and Brian DePalma’s Dressed to Kill (1980). While this was Hitchcock’s first real horror film, he was mistakenly labelled as a horror film director ever since.

The bleak, monochrome film is made even more effective by Bernard Herrmann’s sparse, but driving, recognisable score, first played under the frantic credits by industry pioneer Saul Bass, and on October 30th Manchester Camerata will bring the infamous soundtrack LIVE to the Albert Hall.

Be sure to join in celebrating this classic cinema masterpiece with Britain’s most adventurous Orchestra this Halloween, and stay tuned for more ‘spooktacular’ news on Albert’s Schloss food and drink Psycho specials, as well as themed Psycho happenings all over the Albert Hall.

HALLOWEEN WEEKEND – SUNDAY 30TH OCTOBER 2016 Matinee & Evening Performances Tickets on sale Friday on 5th August at 10am via www.alberthallmanchester, See Tickets, and all good online ticket shops.
