Described as a “must watch” and an “instant classic”, Dark Winds adapts Tony Hillerman’s beloved Leaphorn & Chee mystery novels into a haunting noir thriller steeped in atmosphere and moral complexity. The series is executive produced by George R. R. Martin alongside the late Robert Redford, who also makes his final on-screen appearance in the show.

Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon return as Navajo Tribal Police officers Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, a partnership tested as much by personal history as by the crimes they investigate. Series three opens six months after the explosive season two finale, transporting viewers back to the vast dunes of the Navajo Nation, where Leaphorn remains haunted by the weight of past decisions.

When two fourteen-year-old boys vanish from the reservation, leaving behind only a broken bicycle and a blood-stained patch of earth, Leaphorn and Chee are drawn into a case that exposes fractures running deep within the community. As they question locals who reveal only fragments of the truth, the investigation begins to unravel more than just the mystery itself.

Adding further pressure is the arrival of FBI agent Sylvia Washington, played by Jenna Elfman, whose interest in Leaphorn’s past threatens to reopen old wounds. Elsewhere, Bernadette Manuelito has left the reservation behind to join the US Border Patrol, only to find herself caught in a dangerous web involving human trafficking and drug smuggling. As her case edges closer to Leaphorn and Chee’s investigation, all three are forced to confront personal demons while fighting to protect the people they care about.
