Exec-produced by Hollywood icon Robert Redford and Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin, and based on Tony Hillerman’s best-selling mystery novels, the new season brings back the riveting Navajo crime-fighting duo: the tenacious Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon – Fargo, Doctor Sleep, Reservation Dogs) and the slick, smart FBI agent turned PI Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon – Blood Quantum, Reservation Dogs, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1). Together, they must confront even darker forces than before.

With Dark Winds Season 2 out now on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital , the Dark Winds Season 1 & 2 Box Set will also be available. And with a third season already in the works, now is the perfect time to dive into this enthralling and atmospheric series.

Dark Winds

In Season 2, Chee, having left the FBI at the end of Season 1, now works as a private investigator for the wealthy Rosemary Vines (Jeri Ryan – Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Picard). Meanwhile, Leaphorn, alongside his sharp and capable sergeant, Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten – Frontier, Tribal), is hunting down a mysterious blonde man (Nicholas Logan – I Care a Lot, Dopesick, Watchmen) who is terrorizing the Navajo community.

The investigation soon brings Leaphorn and Chee back together as they find themselves chasing the same suspect. However, what initially appears to be a simple case leads them into a far larger conspiracy involving an ancient cult, wealthy, self-serving outsiders, supernatural forces, and a killer with a dark connection to Leaphorn that opens old wounds and challenges his moral and professional code. As revenge and destruction loom, the two men must battle these malevolent forces threatening their community while confronting their own personal demons on the path to redemption.

The six-part series continues to shine a spotlight on Indigenous talent both on and off-screen, with powerful storylines exploring the sociological and systemic issues affecting Native Americans in the 1970s. Season 2 delves into themes such as the Vietnam War, the white appropriation of Navajo rituals, and the ongoing exploration of the forced sterilization of Native American women introduced in the first season.
