From horror director James Crow, the film features a stellar cast of British acting talent including Gary Webster, Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott, Johnny Palmiero, Nick Nevern, Doctor Who legend Carole Ann Ford and Peter Woodward – son of The Wicker Man’s Edward Woodward and Tony Sands who we grabbed for a chat about scary movies and more.

Five years after surviving satanic serial killer Henry Decker (Woodward), Julia (Sothcott) is still haunted by the devastating horrors she endured. Below Tony Sands tells us all about the horrors he loves the best:

“Horror, what a genre! I have loved film as far back as I can remember, and there have been many horrors that I have loved for various reasons. Sometimes it’s the fun factor, movies such as The Elm Streets or Friday The 13ths (though not all of either franchise succeed).

Others, such as The Classic Hammer horrors had a unique feel and fantastic casts which pulled you in. ‘Alien’ is a great horror, and there are more that are definitely others eluding my thoughts right now. However, my favourite of all horrors is ‘The Omen’. It felt real, like it could happen, and that made it scarier.

It’s helped along by outstanding casting. Gregory Peck and Lee Remick being the marquee talent supported by an array of superb names such as David Warner, Billie Whitelaw, and Patrick Troughton. A good script, the legendary Richard Donner directing, and that fabulous, creepy soundtrack. It was scary, thrilling and it drew me into its reality.

It was followed by two sequels (we’ll ignore everything after part 3), ‘Damien’ which is decent enough, and has some of the best kills in the series and culminating with ‘The Final Conflict’ starring a young, outstanding Sam Neill. I have a great fondness for the third film, feel it’s greatly underrated. But it’s the original, ‘The Omen’ that is my favourite of all the horrors I have seen. And I have seen many. If, somehow, you have missed it – seek, watch, enjoy!”
