Arrow Video Hosts Huge September 4K Line-Up
September is shaping up to be a major month for collectors as Arrow Video has unveiled an expansive slate of new releases spanning action, horror, crime, science fiction and martial arts, headlined by the long-awaited 4K restoration of John Woo’s landmark A Better Tomorrow trilogy.

The collection brings together all three films that helped redefine Hong Kong action cinema during the 1980s, with A Better Tomorrow, A Better Tomorrow II and Tsui Hark’s prequel A Better Tomorrow III: Love & Death in Saigon receiving new restorations alongside an extensive selection of newly produced and archival bonus features. The five-disc Limited Edition will be available on both 4K UHD and Blu-ray from 28 September.
Horror fans also have plenty to look forward to. Arriving on 7 September is Underworld, the little-seen 1985 thriller written and directed by Hellraiser creator Clive Barker, originally released in the United States as Transmutations. Restored in 4K, the Limited Edition includes both the original theatrical version and an extended cut compiled from the best surviving materials, together with newly produced interviews and collector’s packaging.

Another standout release is Rob Reiner’s acclaimed adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery, which receives both Limited Edition 4K UHD and Blu-ray editions from 21 September. Featuring Kathy Bates’ Academy Award-winning performance alongside James Caan, the release includes new and archival audio commentaries, fresh interviews and deleted archival material celebrating one of the defining psychological thrillers of the 1990s.
Arrow is also revisiting director Sidney Lumet’s overlooked legal crime drama Night Falls on Manhattan, starring Andy Garcia, Ian Holm, Lena Olin, Richard Dreyfuss and James Gandolfini. The newly restored Blu-ray edition arrives on 14 September with a range of newly commissioned extras. Joining it on the same date is William Wyler’s tense hostage thriller The Desperate Hours, pairing Humphrey Bogart and Fredric March in their only screen appearance together.

Classic science fiction also receives premium treatment as Forbidden Planet arrives in newly restored 4K UHD and Blu-ray editions on 28 September. Arrow’s release presents the influential 1956 film in its original CinemaScope aspect ratio with its theatrical Perspecta stereo soundtrack, accompanied by new artwork, a fold-out poster and a collector’s booklet.
Elsewhere, martial arts fans can pick up the Wicked Priest Collection, bringing together all five entries in the Japanese action-comedy series starring Tomisaburo Wakayama. The three-disc Blu-ray box set features new restorations, interviews and video essays celebrating the cult franchise.

Rounding out the month is Robert Towne’s stylish neo-noir Tequila Sunrise, starring Mel Gibson, Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer. Available on both Limited Edition 4K UHD and Blu-ray from 14 September, the release features a brand-new restoration from the original camera negative alongside newly produced interviews examining Towne’s return to the noir genre following Chinatown.
With everything from Hong Kong action classics and gothic horror to Hollywood noir and landmark science fiction, Arrow Video’s September line-up offers one of the label’s most varied months in recent memory.
Arrow Video’s September releases begin with Underworld on 7 September, followed by Night Falls on Manhattan, The Desperate Hours, Wicked Priest Collection and Tequila Sunrise on 14 September, Misery on 21 September, and A Better Tomorrow Trilogy alongside Forbidden Planet on 28 September.
